Hi my ancestor, William Pook b 5 October 1800 in Heavitree, Devon, England, is recorded to have gone to South Africa and there is record of his marriage to Maria Catherina Mulder (widow, nee Hetherman,Sp?) on 27 April 1829. Records state that his parents were William and Mary Pook. William Died 27 January 1872, aged 72 in South Africa. He and Maria had 3 children - Mary (Maria) Wilhelmina Johanna; William Charles and John Andrew (my great, great grandfather).

I am looking for information on Williams family from Heavitree in Devon and how William came to be in South Africa.
