Russian Friends Grand Father

I (age 70) have recently returned (Oct 1999) from mission in Russia. My Russian friend, Bladimir Popov, wants to find infromation about his grandfather who imigrated to the USA in about 1945 or so. His grandfather's name is Savelij Popov, born about 1899. I would be grateful for any help.
The Grand Son lives in Krasnodar Russia. That City is close to the Black Sea. It is possible that the family has roots in Eastern Turkey. The Grand Son held responsible possitions in the economic structure of the former Soviet Union.
The Grand Father was a military man (Cossack Army) and left Russia about the time of the Revolution (1918) for Greece. He then Immigrated to the USA or Canada during or after WWII.
He gave a picture to an Uncle Acjon I. Popov, Probably in Albany 23 New York.
One elderly relative remembers recieving a letter with a return address: Savva Popov, Albany 23. USA(or Canada.)
I would be pleased to find anyone who knows of this old gentelman and can put me in touch with his relatives. His Grand Son is anxiously waithing.
I guess my next step will be to search the Census, immigration, and Social security records if possible for a man who could possibly be still living.

I'm looking for a man who's name is Alexander Popov.In 2002 he was living in Venezuela and he was contacting a Jane Skriabin.This man must know something about my family because his grandmother 's name Scriabine Natalia ( relatives by the russian composer).And my husband is a Scriabine.

i m trying to trace back my family tree as far as possible but i never realized how many popoff/ ov' s there really are. My great grandfather was named alex/ alexander popoff and he married anna kashirsky/kachursky. They lived and died in vista san diego california. they both worked at camp pendelton in san diego. if anyone i mean anyone has anything that is even similiar to this please let me know. they both were born in russia. anna arrived in san francisco and im not to sure about alex. also why was popov changed to popoff. thank you. u can email or post your message on this board. once again thank you

My Mother's name was Stephanie Georgiev,Ruse-Bulgaria (born either 1900-1903, died 1926)married to Nick Popovitchenko(1896-1972)in Bulgaria. Moved to Algrange, France, two children Alexandra and Nicolas. I am Alexandra age 75 and looking for any family members.
My mother's sisters were Elenka, and Ivanza, brother Christo.

My Father had a sister Lola, and nephew Vitalik. Do not know their last name.

These Names Sound close to the one I am looking for. The date of birth is closer to 1900. Immigrated to USA during or after WWII. I have a copy of his picture and note written on the back.
