1840 Census of Pensioners shows Gideon Popple, age 94, at Canterbury, Windham Co, CT.

I lack the date but earlier one Sally Popple was granted the right by RI authorities to divorce her husband Gideon.

If it's the same man, CT's Gideon likely born in RI (or on RI/CT borner) about 1746. He should have a Rev War pension or other papers as well. Good luck.
