Google Pilot.FamilySearch.org for the 1850 census, Dist. 107, Monroe County, OH, 1850, PORTER:
Joshua, 42, & Phoebe, 31, both b. PA. Ch. b. OH:
Samuel, 18; Mary, 17; David C., 16; Sarah, 14; Elisabeth, 13; Joshua, 7; Malissa, 7.
Also TABLER, Rebecca, 25, VA.

My interpretation would be that Malisse did not die on the way from Pennsylvania to Ohio but was mother of the children. That agrees with the record that shows Joshua PORTER m. 1827, Melissa MASSIL / MASSIE (13 Je. 1809, OH - 22 Mar. 1848). The census shows Phoebe, 31 in 1850, which agrees with her birth, 25 Oct. 1818/19.

Indian Prairie, Wayne Co., IL, 1880, PORTER:
Joshua, 70, PA IRL PA; Pheba, 61, PA PA PA.
Samuel, 51, OH PA PA; wf. Laura J., 41, OH OH OH
Dau. Elizabeth, 17, OH
Ch. b. IL: Sarah, 15; Pheba, 13; Mary, 10; Jane, 7; Martha, 5; Wm., 2.

Wayne Co., IL, 1900, PORTER
Samuel, b. May 1830, OH PA PA; wf. Jane, b. July 1849, OH OH OH;
Sons b. IL: Wm. W., Apr. 1879 ['78?], & Lee G., Feb. 1882.
Samuel died in 1917 & was buried at Cisne, IL. Laura Jane d. 13 Oct. 1914.

Lamard, Wayne, IL, 1880, PORTER
David C., 46, OH PA OH; wf. Ellen, 50, OH PA PA
Ch. b. OH: James J., 21; Mary, 15
Ch. b. IL: Wm. S., 14; John W., 11; Charles, 9; David, 6; Elizabeth, 4.

David was 35 & Ellen, 38, in 1870. They were 76 & 75 in 1910. Ellen was 85 in 1920.

From the birthplaces of the children, it looks as if they were in Ohio from until about 1865, and then of Wayne Co., IL.
