P.C. Porter, Clarksville, Red River Co., TX - murderer 1947?

Classification: Query
Surnames: PORTER, PROCTOR
I'm the great-niece of Palmer Carroll Porter, aka P.C. Porter, of Red River County.

I've been researching him for the past month or so, as I discovered that he died in Huntsville, TX. My grandmother, Eunice Porter Proctor, never mentioned him to me, but I verified with another cousin that, indeed, P.C. died in jail for killing a man. Actually, it was two men. He was given a 5 year sentence, appealed, won the appeal, was re-tried, found guilty again, and sentenced to more time. The appeal has some interesting information.

What it does not have is whether or not he was deaf, as his Selective service registration papers say.

Iit was a fight over a fence - to a tomato patch! Imagine, a gunfight over tomatoes!
His daughter Margie was a witness, too. Does anybody have more info on the family?

Thanks,
Vicki Williams Marsh
(daughter of Billie Edd Proctor Williams)
