I HAVE RECORDS TO SHOW A WILLIAM PORTER DIED 2 DEC 1821
ON BOARD SHIP VOLTAIR BOUND FOR CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA FROM INJURIES
CAUSED BY A FAILED PIRATE ATTACK. THE RESPONSIBLE PIRATES WHERE HUNG BY
ANOTHER PIRATE NAMED LAFITTE AKA MONSIEUR CLEMENT ON THE ISLAND OF CAMPECHE ( MODERN DAY TEXAS NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH CAMPECHE SPANISH MEXICO). FOR HAVING VIOLATED LAFITTE'S ORDER TO NOT OFFEND, HARM, OR
ATTACK AN AMERICAN VESSEL. LAFITTE'S JUSTICE WAS SWIFT.
FOUR OTHER DEATHS WERE REPORTED
ON THAT SHIP. THEY WHERE THEO CHRISTIAN, JACOB TERE, FREDRICK D.
AND JOHN H. THE SHIP ARRIVED IN PORT AROUND 2ND NOVEMBER 1821.
LITTLE ELSE IS KNOWN OF THESE EVENTS. ALL OF THE DEAD WHERE
EMPLOYED SEAMEN ON BOARD THE SHIP. FULL NAMES WHERE LISTED BUT ARE NO LONGER LEGIBLE DUE TO AGE OF DOCUMENTS.
