Here's what I know about my Posner branch. Perhaps this will strike a bell with someone.
My grandfather was Milton Feldstein. He was born in Baltimore in 1901. His parents were Henry Feldstein and Bertha Posner. She was born in Russia in 1880. She immigrated about 1896. (Although some records on the internet show her birth date as 1775, I have her death certificate which indicates the 1880 date.) Her father was Solomon Posner. He was also from Russia. Her mother's name might have been Belle.

Hi: I'm sending this message to you about the Posners over 9 years after your original posting, but I'm hoping you'll get this:

My grandmother's maiden name was Minnie Posner. I think Minnie was short for something else, but I'm not sure. I believe that one of her sisters was married to a man who had a haberdashery shop on Delancey Street in NY - is it possible we are looking for the same family of Posners? Supposedly, Minnie was born in about 1895 and may have had a brother named Frank. She likely emigrated from Belarusia.

Hope you get this and we can compare notes. Thanks!
jvallee61

Re: Gustave Posner

I am giving you this info from memory. I will have to check my file cabinets later for verification. Gustav was born in Silesia (now in Poland). His father's name was Christian Posner. He married Berthe Beyer in Dresden. They immigrated to the US in, I believe, 1880 or 1881. Their boat landed in Castle Garden in New York (before Ellis Island) on July 5th. I have copies of the passenger records. Berthe's mother was with them. Her name was Maria. They were accompanied by their two sons, Otto and Alfred. Alfred was 3 months old at the time. All records (census, military) state that Alfred was born in Missouri but the passenger records show him on the ship with his parents. I sometimes wonder if he even knew he was born in Germany. Berthe died a short while after giving birth to a girl nicknamed Letty. I think her name might have been Letitia. Not sure on that, will have to look. From what I've been told by family, Rosa Koch came to the US to marry him. Family says that Gustav, Berthe, and Rosa, all "came from the same place and knew each other". Rosa and Gustav had two boys and three girls. None of them had children. Otto did move to West Plains and got married there. When Gustav died (this was a suicide and I have the coroner's report) Otto and his wife were living in West Plains.

The first Alfred Posner is my grandfather. The second is my uncle. I am interested in where you got the name Carl from. The only records I have of Carl, he is called Charles. He died in infancy in an accident. He was scalded. He climbed into a pot of apple butter his mother was making in the front yard.

Alfred Theodore Gustav Posner was my grandfather. He was the son of Gustav Posner. Gustav had two wives. Berthe Beyer, my great-grandmother, was the mother of Alfred (my grandfather), Otto (his older brother)and a sister. Offhand, I forgot her name. Her nickname was Letty. I'll have to look it up. The second wife was Rosa Koch. They had three daughters and two sons. One was my great-uncle Al and the other one died as an infant. His name was Charles. Rosa was making apple butter in the front yard. Somehow, he climbed up into it and died from scalding. None of the children from the second marriage had any offspring. My grandfather had three boys Alfred, Albert and Robert. Alfred did marry Melva Marsden.

My great grandmother was Malvina Poschner (1858 OH - 1948 CA) who's father was Col. Fredreick A. Poschner (Abt 1816 - 1873 OH) who came to the US from Austria in 1854 and settled in Ohio. He organized & initially led the 47th OVI. His wife's name was Maria (NFD). He had a son, Frederick Jr. married to Caroline (NFD). Whether or not these folks are related to your Poschners, I don't know but I offer up the information for whatever it's worth.
My mother's name was Mary Walsh. I was raised by my Father's sister and only knew my mother's sister as a small child with very limited memory. She married a man whose name was Posner and they had 5 or 6 children all of which would be my cousins but I have never seen them nor do I know their whereabouts. I am 64 years old so I am sure Beatrice Posner would have passed away by now. I currently live on Long Island in the summer and Sarasota in the winter. Thank you.

Posners in the Ohio area

Hello
I have just started this quest to try and find out who my ancestors are. I think I know this much? My father's name is Daniel Posner. He has one sister and 3 brothers. His father was Oscar Arthur Posner who was married to Irma Posner. He had one Brother who was his twin that Is known and his name was Harvey Posner.> For some reason he either the death of his parents or a family conflict he left the Ohio area and settled in Minnesota. I believe his parents were Leapold and Martha Posner. They would have been in the Cincinnati Ohio area in the early to mid 1800s. That is all I know and at best it is uncertain. If anyone has come across any of those names or can give me some direction it would be appreciated
Randy Posner
This could be a stretch. My Father was Stanley Martin Posner son of Harry and Jean.My grandparents lived in NYC and died the late 1950's.I know my grandfather had a brother but I never met him. Anyway, my father had a cousin named Florence. I met her when she took the married name Arronow. She had married a David and they had 2 children, Francine and Ronnie. They were living in Hollywood Florida the last I knew.

Posner Family Search.

I am seeking information regarding William Bertie Posner who married Annie Pearce, in August 1905. The marriage took place in Droitwich where Annie was living.

William's father was named Albert. The family came from Accrington.

It is believed that following the marriage William and Annie lived in Barnt Green. This may be a 'red herring' though!

Any information re the above, or their decendants, would be appreciated. Thanks.

We think Isidore was born in Russia about 1888; Jennie Weiss was born in Kiev. They came to the USA in 1907. He worked in the garment business and lived in Brooklyn. Isidore was adopted after his parents were killed in pogroms(?) in RUssia. If you believe you have more information on this family I'd like to hear from you.

Her parents were Morris and Anna (originally Hannah?) whose maiden name was Abrahams (originally Abramowitz?). In the 1900 census they indicate they came from Russia originally, but went to London England, before they came here. One of my grandmother's sisters (Jennie)was born in London in 1880, so they would have come between 1880-1882. I am looking for any information about my grandmother's family.

POSNER/PETERSON

I am searching for any family information about my Grandfather, Charles Casper Peterson. His mother's maiden name was POSNER. I do not know her first name. My grandfather is deceased and so are his wife, 2 daughters(1 is my mother)and 1 son.
Charles always told us he was born in Germany 2/28/1878 and came to this country alone at the age of 14. We do not know anything prior to that. However, searching thru Ancestry.com I came across California Death records for when he died (6/1962) and it gave us his mothers maiden name of POSNER.
This is the first time we have seen this name.It also says he was born in Wisconsin. He wrote on my mothers birth certificate as Germany being his place of birth. So the Wisconsin birthplace may be wrong. I remember him speaking of either a brother or sister, but I cannot remember any names or addresses. He married Catherine Kleser in Wisconsin Oct 1903.(We have found cousins on Catherines side, but no one knows anything about Charleys family) He also served in the
Spanish American War in 1898. I found a record that may be his of the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Company A. His son Herbert was born 1907. 2nd daughter Marie, 1909 and my mother Dorothy, 1911. He was a World Champion Billiards player and owned Petersons Billiard Parlor in St.Louis in the 1920s. He was very well known in his sport and is in the Billiard Hall of Fame with Wille Hoppe.
He traveled all over the country teaching College and University students how to play the Gentlemans Sport of Billiards. He was known as the "Missionary of Billiards".
He retired 1 year before he died in 1962.
Now that we have ANOTHER name to search it may help get us closer to Charleys relatives.
So if anyone can link anything to the above information for Peterson with Posner, it would be a great help.

Harris Posner arrived in New Zealand in August 1864 aboard the "Portland" from London. He claimed to have gone to London from Warsaw about 1859 and trained as a tailor before emigrating. When he naturalised in 1873 he claimed to have been born a Russian Pole in Warsaw in March 1842 and gave himself the name Henry Louis Possenniskie. He took the surname of his employer, from whom he purchased the tailoring business in 1875. In his native language, his name was Hirsch Liebe and his father's name Ezreel Zelig, but I am not sure now what surname he was born with. Can anyone suggest where I go from here?
