I. Hans Georgh [Hans Jurrien] Pot, from Homborgh in Germany, trooper under the command (flag) of the Prince of Hessen Homborgh ( 1706), betrothal/marriage in Groningen in the A-CHURCH on resp. 19 Dec. 1705/13 Jan.1706 to Geesjen Ates of Groningen (for whom her brother Wieke Ates
acted at the betrothal;

II. Jan Hansen Pot, baptized in Groningen Martinikerk 6-Sept.1711, olderman in Groningen, died after 1763, betrothal/marriage in Groningen Martinikerk resp. 14 Feb./3 Mar.1733 to Geeske Philippus, of "'t Grote Veen" (Grotefehn)
in East Friesland (acting for her, as witness, is her brother Berent Philips), died before 1764.

III. Jurjen Jans Pot, bapt. in Groningen Martinikerk 3 June 1735, betrothal/marriage in Groningen in the Martinikerk resp. 3 Dec. 1763/21 Feb. 1764 to Antje (aka Annegje)Coenes Bont (acting for her, as witness, her father Coene Bont), bapt. in Groningen in the Noorderkerk on 8 Nov. 1744, daughter of Koene (also spelled Coene) Roelefs Bont Bont, skipper, and Aaltjen Reinders Bekker(ing). Marriage was under 'marital
conditions', dated 2 Dec. 1773, witnesses for the bridegroom was his father Jan Pot and his uncle Berend Philips.

IV. Jan Jurjens Pot, bapt. Groningen in the Noorderkerk on 21 Feb. 1765, occupation carpenter, died in Amsterdam on 23 Jun. 1808, married (most likely in Amsterdam, as no marriage was recorded in Groningen) with Trijntje Harmens Rowaan, bapt. Opwierde 3 Jun 1781, died in Opwierde (in house nr. 42, aged 31 years) on 21 Feb. 1813, daughter of Harm Jans Rowaan and Maria Lammerts; she remarries in Appingedam on 17 Aug. 1811 with Tonnijs Berends Bakker, bapt. Oude Pekela 23 Mar. 1781, son of Berend Soekes and Stijntje Tonnijs.

V. Harmannus Jans Pot, born/baptized in Amsterdam resp. 1 Sep/13 Sept. 1807, occupations : farm hand/farm laborer at Westeremden, inn keeper in te Huizinge (between 1840- 1844), died Garsthuizen (municipality of Stedum) on 10 May 1870, marries in Stedum on 2 Jun. 1832 with Cornelia Willems Wisman, born/bapt in Westeremden resp. 27 Jan/24 Feb. 1811, died in Toornwerd (mun. Middlestum) on 15 Apr. 1875, daughter of Willem Wisman (occ.weaver) and Hilje Cornelis Kloppinga.

3. Trientje (aka Trijntje), b. Westeremden 4 Mar 1837. She had a son called Harmannus Pot, b. Garsthuizen on 27 Feb. 1858. (no marriage was recorded)

6 Jurien, b. Huizinge 26 Nov. 1844
7. Hilje, b. Garsthuizen 3 Sept. 1849

VI. Jurrien Pot, born Garsthuizen 16 May 1853, occ. carpenter, workman, died Groningen 31 Aug. 1918; marries (1) in Uithuizermeeden on 4 Jun. 1881 with Trijntje Buur, b. Uithuizermeeden 15 Apr. 1850, died in Groningen 29 May
1905, daughter of Pieter Eisses Buur and Aaltje Berents Bouwma, marries (2) in Groningen on 2 Aug. 1906 with Oktje Balkema, b. Eppenhuizen on 30 May 1861. Shortly after his first marriage and the birth of the first child they moved
to the city of Groningen on 23 Jul. 1881. They moved again on the 20 Jul. 1885 to Delfzijl, but they probably only lived there for a short time as they were registered (as a citizen) in Groningen on 1st of March 1886, listed as having come from Amsterdam..!

1 Pieter Pot, b. Uithuizermeeden 6 June 1881
2. Harmannus Pot, b. Groningen 8 Sept. 1882, died Groningen 11 Jun. 1902.
3. Kornelis Pot, b. Groningen 7 Feb.1885, office clerk, marries in Groningen with Anna Jurriens de Vries.
4. Eisse Pot, b. Groningen 4 Jul.1886. He leaves on 27 Apr. 1909, for Grand Rapids, Michigan
5. Jan, b. Groningen 14 Jan. 1889, died in Groningen 7 May 1890.
6. Jan, b. Groningen 19 Jan 1891.


Well, there you have it. My Greatgrandfather is the aforementioned Eisse Pot who came to Michigan.
