John Ray Potter, 83, of Spring Valley, CA, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003 in San Luis Obispo, CA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park. John was born in Bayliss, IL. on April 19, 1920. He served in the Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII, and also participated in the Battle of Guadalcanal. After the war, John drove a bus in Evanston, IL and after moving to Spring Valley, CA., he worked with the San Diego Transit Company driving a bus for many years until his retirement. John is survived by his wife, Myrtle Potter of Spring Valley; sister, Leah Mabel Hull of Beverly, IL; brother, Lloyd Potter and his wife Vi of East Alton, IL.; and stepdaughter, Lorraine Reynolds of Morro Bay. He also had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren. John was a kind, gentle man and will be missed by all who knew him. Myrtle and John Potter have been members for many years of the Friends Community Church in Spring Valley. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Friends Community Church, 8955 Kenwood Drive, Spring Valley, CA 91977.
