Dora,my ggggrandmother was Elizabeth Potts Hahn. She is supposed to be the daughter of Loami Potts & Matilda Hicks. Elizabeth's date of birth, December 25, 1854, predates Loami & Matilda's marriage date of September 30, 1855 by over 9 months. I have always wondered about this. My questions have been: Is Elizabeth's birth year incorrect, is Matilda & Loami's marriage date incorrect, were Matilda & Loami living together before they were married, or is Elizabeth the daughter of Loami and a different wife? Now my question is: Was Elizabeth the daughter of Matilda and her 1st husband John Wesley Potts? If so, this would make a huge difference in our family tree! Do you happen to have a divorce date for John & Matilda? I have quite a bit of descendant info for Loami that I'm willing to share with you.

Loami Potts is buried in the Shoal Creek Baptist-Potts Cemetery located in St Rose Township, Clinton County, Illinois. According to his tombstone, he died March 29, 1876. It is my understanding that Artimissia Dewey, Loami's 2nd wife divorced him. I don't know about the others. I would love to have the names and dates of birth listed in your family Bible, for Loami's children. Are there names and dates of birth for any other family members?

My sister-in-law is the daughter of a Frank M. Potts that was born in Missouri in 1885. He married Anna M Neidinger. His father was named David and his mother Mary. David was born in Iowa.

Hornetown is an old section name in Darby Twp, Delaware County, PA. WPA records exist of a Hornetown Cemetery off Ashland Avenue, Darby Twp. 18th Century maps of Darby Twp may be viewed on the Delaware County Historical website. 10 years is a long time to wait for a reply, and you may already know this.

I believe that Hiram K Potts is this man:

Hiram's Highway in Sai Kung, Hong Kong earned its name from its reconstruction of a Japanese track in the immediate post Second World War years by the Royal Marines. The officer in charge, K Potts, was nicknamed Hiram ('Hiram K Potts') because of his alleged passion for an American brand of tinned sausages. Hence 'Hiram's Highway'.[1]

Hi! This gentleman I believe is my Uncle Bonnie. He and his wife Ruby did not have any children. Bonnie had 1 sister (Odessa) 3 brothers (John A., Herburt, Dubs). Father John Stephen Potts, Mother - Sarah Jane Collet. I don't have much info on the family I am the youngest of all the cousins. My father John A. was about 42 years of age when I was born.

He was born about 1848 in Longtown, Cumberland and in 1851 he is living with a family called Kennedy in Stapleton and described as "nurse child".

The 1880 Census in Harbison, Dubois Co. Indiana lists John L. Potts, who married Sarah Thomas, and 2nd marriage to Rebecca Morgan. John Potts marriage record shows his name as John Silas Potts, married Sarah Hobbs, 7 Aug 1845 ref. Indiana Marriage Collection, 1800-1941,she was previously m to Ezekiel Hobbs 21 Apr 1842, same ref. as above, had 2 daughters Elizabeth & Caroline Hobbs, shown as Hubbs on most records. Ezekiel Hobbs is with his father & Mother on the 1850 Census, age 28.

Sarah Thomas Hobbs Potts is my gg-grandmother, Arms Thomas Potts, (he is shown on the 1850 Census in Rutherford, Martin Co., Indiana as Thomas B. Potts, his sister Mary Ann Potts is my g-grandmother.

The 1880 Census with the middle initial of L, looks like an L, but if you look at this Census Takers other Capital S's you can see where John's Middle initial could have been an S.

Just saw your post of April 25, 2002. My g-grandmother is Mary Ann Potts b 1849, Dubois Co. Indiana, d 1919, Cass Co. MO. m Andrew J. Harbison. Mary Ann Potts d/o John Silas Potts, s/o Jesse Potts b 1799, So. Carolina, according to the 1850 Census in Dubois Co.Indiana. John Potts is shown with a middle initial of L. If you look very close, it also could be an S. John S. Potts married Sarah Thomas Hubb/Hobbs, their marriage record shows John Silas Potts, actually they have Potts spelled as Pots.

I am interested in your statement about Elizabeth being a Butler instead of a Rutherford. My 4 gr grandfather James Harbison was a landowner in Harbison Twps, Dubois Co. Indiana in 1816. His brother Arthur Harbison was a landowner in 1807. James's son Absalom Harbison b 1791, KY. married Rachel Butler b1792, KY. Curious if there is a connection between Elizabeth Butler & Rachel Butler.

I would be interested in finding out more about my grandmothers' lineage. Her name was Eva E. Potts She married Thomas M. Stephens They both lived and died in east Texas. Grandma was born Feb 23, 1885 and died Aug 24, 1969

I have been told that her middle name was Elizabeth, though many times it was apparently mispelled as Lizabeth.

I did not know that Florence had any surviving children except her son, Robert Foster Bly (Blythe) who married Nancy A.H. and did not have any children -- as far as I know.

Looking for any information available on my grandmother Lillie. Marriage certificate shows her last name to be Potts, but my father said her last name was Evans. She married my grandfather, Wesley Albert Adkins on April 24, 1928, in Oklahoma. She passed away around 1956. She was possibly from Missouri, but not sure. She and Wesley had three sons, Albert Jr, LeRoy and William Paul. They lived around Drumright/Olive Oklahoma area. Any information would be a big help.

My sister-in-law's father, Frank M. Potts, was born in Missouri in 1885. He married Anna Mae Neidinger.

Her obit (9 Dec 1994) from Fremont messenger. Mrs Howard age 64 had been a patient in Memorial Hospital since the 25th. of November. Born in Sidney Ohio in 1910 she married Ellis Howard in 1937 and he survives at their home on State Street. Other survivors are two brothers, Louie and Dale Potts both of Fremont. A brother preceded her in death. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.

Joseph Potts of Rockville, Indiana

Joseph Potts was born 1791 in Pa...He was an Attorney, later a Probate Judge, and an Auditor, in Rockville, Indiana.
He married my GGG Grandmother,Susan Stetson Turner in 1843.
He died around 1862....He had a son John from his first marriage, who was a "Medical Student" and John married and had one daughter...
Is there anyone out there related or who might know of this family??

My grandfather is Frank M. Potts, born around 1885. We don't have much information on his side of the family. Believe he had a brother named Nathan. He and my grandmother Anna Mary Neidinger had four girls and a boy. They were Cecilia Rosa, Josephine Margaret, Nellie Pearl, Myrtle Mary, and Delbert Potts. My mother Josephine is the only one still living. Would love to find out something about his life and when and where he died. My mother last saw him when she was about 12 or 13 years old.

I am searching for information on my gr-gr-gr grandmother Sara Elizabeth Irvin who was married a total of five times. Her first marriage was to Tom Gilbreath. She later divorced him. She went on to marry a second time to a Henry Green Bingaman. He later passed away leaving her a widow. Then she went on to marry a third time to a Mr. Hickman. I don't have his first name. He to later on passed away. Being a widower again she went to marry a fourth time to a Mr. Lair. He as well as the other two passed away leaving her once again to be a widower.. Then she married a fifth and final time to a Mr. Potts. I don't have his first name as well. She out lived him as well. After his passing she went and lived with her daughter Mary Jane Loman. She was a daughter from her first marriage. She had two children her first marriage.. I don't have any information as to say she had any other children with her other four husbands. I trying to find out if she did.. Mary Jane is my gr-gr- grandmother.
