I don't know if there is a connection to you or not but I have an Augustin Poulin 1762-1844 Quebec, Canada who married Marie-Agathe Blouin 1770-1808 Quebec, Canada who had at least 1 child Theotiste Poulin 1798-1872 QC. I'm sure they probably had other children but this is the line that relates to me. If I run across anything else I'll let you know.

Looking for Gerard L Poulin who married Deborah G Blais Laliberte in Augusta, Maine. I have no other information.
I grew up in Hallowell, Maine and Deborah was my best friend, along with her sister, Janet, who married Henry Blouin.

My mother, whose last name was Trial, has Poulins/Blais/Roy in her family tree and I'd like to know if they run together. It would be such a kick to get all of these individuals in my mother's family tree!

If you have any information on any of these individuals I would so appreciate hearing from you!

Francis Peter Poulin

Like many of you, I'm hitting a brick wall when looking for Canadian records. Francis Peter Poulin was my grandfather. He was married to Helen Maude Beattie. He was born Dec. 24, 1894 and died in March of 1969. His father was Victor Albert Poulin, born around 1852 in Bolton, Ontario, Canada and was married to Mary Chattillion(Cottillion) born in 1860 in France. They had children named Emma, Louise, Minnie, Victor G., Francis, Eva B., and William. They live in Lanesboro, MA for many years. Mary died in 1909 and a few years before his death Victor moved to North Adams to live with a daughter until his death in 1927. But I can't find any other info on them. Anybody know anything? Thanks.
I can be emailed at mbn62@verizon.net. Please use subject line (Poulin familytree)
We think we know Eva's parents to be Joseph and Marilee (Carpentier) Poulin.

Joseph was married prior (widowed) and had three children: Albertine, Bertha & Joseph. He then married Marilee (could be Merilee) and had Eva, Navida, Victor, George and Delia.

Does anyone have the parents of Joseph and Marilee/Merilee?
I've heard that there is an out-of-print book on Poulin genealogy. Does anyone have a copy that would be willing to loan it to us to get it reproduced? Or does it exist on-line somewhere?

Well, I'm sure our lines cross somewhere! My grandmother was a Therialt, but she was born in Boston and put in a French orphanage so I am nowhere on her line.
She wanted us to call her Mimi, so I didn't know MeMe was French/Canadian for grandma! I just thought she felt to young to be one! Thats funny!
My Poulins were from Pockmouche'.

My great grandmother was Eva. I remember visiting an Aunt Albertine & Aunt Delia. I grew up in Connecticut. Eva was married to 1st husband (? Handle) then married to second husband Ward Prager. She had (I believe three children with 1st husband, Harry, Florence & Margarite. My father is Florence's son. But grew up being told he was Eva & Ward's son. Don't know if legal adoption or if Florence had to give baby to her mother to raise, (during those times, I guess due to embarassment) Anyhow, do any of these names ring a bell. I would love to hear from you. Please email me direct. sduby@embarqmail.com Thanks, Susan Prager Duby

does this sound like

The URL for your website does not work. Could you please post which parents you have concluded are correct and the notary reference for the contract? PRDH does not identify a marriage contract for the 1724 marriage and it would be very interesting to know what has been found that they did not find.

PRDH does show Marie Madeleine Poulin (Jean & Marie Gagne) married Francois Xavier Thibault (Francois Thibault & Marie Anne Dupres dit Despres) approximately 1724. The parents of Jean Poulin are identified as Jean Poulin and Louise Pare (certificate #28345). The parents of Marie Gagne are identified as Louis Gagne and Marie Gagnon (certificate #30209). The marriage contract for Jean Poulin & Marie Gagne is # 95017 and the notary is Etienne Jacob.

I am also wondering what is the source that shows the Rimouski couple of Jean Poulin (Jean & Anne Robin) and Marie Gagne dit Belavance (Alexis & Marie Catherine Cloutier) had a daughter named Madeleine. I find 11 Madeleine Poulins born after 1726 (their marriage) and they are not the parents of any of them according to PRDH.

I am related to Gagne, Gagnon, Poulin, and Thibault lines and am very interested in your findings.

Regards,
Sharyn

Since the parents stated on marriage records are given to the clerk or priest by the subject himself, they are most likely to be accurate. Death information is given by a child, spouse, or friend, under stressful circumstances, many years after the parents have died, so is more likely to be incorrect. If you are putting time into a search, head toward the direction of the marriage information.

Happy hunting,
Sharyn

Wendy, it takes a bit more information than that to help you. We need to know the country, state/province, and town (or other division) where these people lived, married, were born or died. If you don't have that, then how about the specifics on where their first child was born? When you did the census searches for 1900-1930 (or 1901in Canada), where were they living? Have you obtained the brith, marriage, and death records for each of their children?

Please give as much information as possible when you have this information gathered.

Regards,
Sharyn
POULIN board administrator
