PLATTSBURGH — Ellen L. Prairie, 85, died Sunday January 16, 2000 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Manhattan, on January 24, 1914, the daughter of Michael and Delia (Dermody) Connolly.
She attended school in New York City. She retired in 1975 from Bausch & Lomb Optical Co., Rochester.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Cassie and Robert McGee of Peru; and a son and his wife, Dan and Diana Rock of Rochester, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Ellen was a former resident of Longs Apts. Plattsburgh, Keeseville Country Gardens, she was a resident of Rochester, for 46 years. She was very active in politics, bowling, and volunteer work at CVPH. She was a special phone friend to many homebound people.
Ellen was pre-deceased by two brothers, James of New York City and Walter of Connecticut. Her first husband, Clifford Rock died in 1957, her second husband Armand (Frenchy) Prairie died in 1986.
Calling hours will be at Brown Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 18, 2000, from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine's Catholic Church, Peru, Wednesday, January 19 at 11 a.m.
