Looking for Fanny Jane Pervo's Father. Only know last name was PREVO. Her mother was Susan Saunders. He was a French man and moved back to France. Fanny was born in 1838.

Louisa Edison Stoutley Prevo

Louisa Edison married "Stoutley" & they had one son Ned (who hadn't been heard from in years). She later married my Great-Grandfather George Prevo & they had my Grandfather Norman & 2 daughters Elizabeth & Caroline Prevo. Norman & Elizabeth moved to Boston, Massachusetts.

I have little information on Louisa other than the fact that her sister Rebecca Edison narred Job States who continued to live in Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada. Their parents were Edward & Mary Jane Edison of Nova Scotia, Canada. I would like to learn more about this part of my family. I don't know if there were any other siblings.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Eugene P. Prevo who is the son of Norman Levy Prevo/e of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada & Cora (White) of USA.

Norman Levy Prevoe is the only son of George Prevo/e & Louisa (Edison) Stoutley both of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada. Norman had a half brother (Louisa married "Stoutley" & had one son) by the name of Ned who was never heard from. I have recently found out that Ned has decendants. I hope they will contact me, maybe they will know the story.

Norman has 2 sisters, Elizabeth (moved & married in Boston, Massachusetts & Caroline (stayed in Canada) also born in Nova Scotia, Canada.

There are no photo's of my grandfather & unfortunately the truth to many of the secrets that were told have all died with my father & his only sister. The family has a few documents of our Grandfather but that is all.

I haven't been able to find the birth records of my father Eugene or his sister Myrtle Prevo.

My father is Eugene Prevo/e. He is the son of Cora White & Norman Levy Prevo (Norman was born in Canada).

Cora White is the daughter of Adelaide Mukes (Meaux)& William Henry White (he is from Maryland).

It is said that Adelaide Mukes of New Kent, Virginia was the youngest of 13 children. 10 of which traveled through the Underground Railroad.

Adelaide Muke's parents are Ceasar Mukes & Tatisia Smith both are said to be from Virginia. There is also a family tree for this family under "Prevo Family Tree".

I was told by my eldest cousin that in New Kent, Virginia there was a plantation there with the spelling of "Meaux" & he was a decendant of the family & wanted to apologize. She hasn't heard from him in years.

Adelaide settled in Massachusetts & raised her family one of which was my Grandmother Cora.

Hello, found a Margert (Prewo) could be a misspelling of last name,DOB, 1/22/1910, that was married to a Michael Joseph Nierenberger. They had 5 children Margaret, Dorothy, Toni, Michael Jr. and Eddie. I don't know is this is of any help.

My father's name is Eugene P. Prevo his parents were Cora (White) Prevo & Norman Levy Prevoe. Norman was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada, he had 3 sisters, 2 stayed in Canada & one Elizabeth moved to Massachusetts. Norman's parent's were Louisa (maiden name - Edison) ( 1st marriage-Stoutley) Prevoe & George Prevoe of Three Miles Plain, Windor, Nova Scotia, Canada. From what I've been told there are a lot of Prevo/e's still living there. Any one with information, please email me at "cynfletch@yahoo.com" . I am not aware of where they are originally from accept that the family settled there.

Did a little more searching and have found that William Meade Prevo and Hubert Mort Prevo are sons of Andrew Watson Prevo.
Andrew Watson Prevo's parents appear to be Asa Prevo and Mary Coppess Prevo
Asa Prevo's parents appear to be Malachi and Nancy Comer Prevo.

Prevo Burials in Idaho

I am on a project of taking photos of headstones here in Canyon County, Idaho. The name Prevo isn't a very common name and so did a little research but didn't really find a lot. I did find a couple of the names on the FamilySearch website but didn't show burials so thought I would pass these along and let you know that I have free headstone phots for those that wish to have them. The names I have are as follows

In 2003 I posted this query - Eugene P. Prevo who is the son of Norman Levy Prevo/e of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada & Cora (White).

Norman Levy Prevoe is the only son of George Prevo/e & Louisa (Edison) Stoutley both of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Norman has 3 sisters, Elizabeth (who married a -(surname Johnson in Boston, Massachusetts)
His 2 other sisters stayed in Canada.

I hope that some of this will help someone out there as I am stuck. There are no photo's of my grandfather & unfortunately the truth to many of the secrets that were told have all died with my father & his only sister.

I am a descendant of Martha R Prevo of Randolph Co., NC.

I am stuck @ her unfortunately.

She married William F. Croker in 1875. I haven't been able to find any record of Martha outside of the marriage record. I have come across the 20 or so Prevo's in the 1860 and 1870 Census records but none of them seem to include her. Let me know if I can help try and connect my family line to yours. Yes, I show Samuel Prevo "Jr." married to Jane Lee (d/o William and Susannah (Pike) Lee) abt. 1798 in North Carolina.

Samuel's and Jane's children were: Mary, Abigail, Samuel, Rebecca, Ira, William (aka Reuben), and Henry. I am a descendant of the Reuben Prevo line.

In New Site Cemetery, near Monett, Barry Co., MO, there is a John Prevo(e) Born: Feb 5, 1818 Died: Nov 14, 1891.

My earliest Prevo is Malachi Prevo, but in census returns, he reports he was born in VA (Nov 8, 1804); married Nancy Comer in Wayne Co, IN. Your Prevo is possibly a different line if from NC. This is a side-line to the Robinson's that I have been researching, so I don't have a lot on the Prevo's - just as they relate to Jasper Co and White Co, IN.

I am looking for information on the ancestors of Minnie Alice Prevo (b: 14 March 1889 in Clark County, Illinois).

Her father was Samuel Prevo (b: ? d: 1890) and her mother was Zoe Belle Marvin (b: 14 Feb. 1866, m: 27 July 1882 d: ?). The Family lived in Walnut Prairie, Clark County, Illinios. My family records show Zoe went on to marry a John Elmore after Samuel's death.

Can anyone take me back farther than the marriage of Samuel and Zoe Belle?

NC/Illinois Prevo Family Stories

I am looking for anyone who would like to share family stories and/or interesting anecdotes regarding the Prevo Family of Randolph County, North Carolina, Kent County, Delaware, and Clark County, Illinois. I am particularly interested in (but welcome others) the families of:

Samuel Prevo, “Sr.” (1751-Abt. 1789)
Samuel Prevo, “Jr.” (1771-1843)
Rueben Prevo (1809-1878)
Samuel Prevo (1852-1890)

Things such as what types of farms they had, jobs or offices they may have held, or even hobbies. I am putting together a family book (over the next couple years) for my nephews that include their gr-gr-grandmother’s Family.

Also, I have some pictures taken by Minnie Alice Prevo (d/o Samuel and Zoe Prevo) of people and homes in Martinsville and other Clark County areas – these may be part of the Prevo or Cunningham families (cica 1900-1925), she didn’t always mark the picture. I am always willing to scan and e-mail if someone is interested.

I think I can answer some of your questions. I will take them in reverse of how you asked because that puts it into chronological order.

There is a substantial record that the Prevo Family were practicing Quakers from at least the 1780s through the 1890s. The origins of their religion remain under debate, but a favorite of mine is that Samuel Prevo (b: 1751 in France) was a protestant – likely a French Calvinist who came from the Southern Lozére and Gard Regions of France near Alais and Florac. The repeal of the Edict of Nantes made Protestantism in France very uncomfortable. The Prevo Family’s migration to North America may have been, in part, due to their religious beliefs (the timing seems to be correct).

Samuel and Jane (Lee) Prevo’s migration to Clark County, Illinois was around 1817. Other members of the Prevo Family had already migrated to the Walnut Prairie area (based upon land records). So I cannot confirm the reason for their move – other than to follow kin.

From my side of the Prevo Family, I only know that some of the children of Reuben Prevo were Republican – and therefore, may have been anti-slavery. My great-grandparents, Minnie Alice (Prevo) and Ray Cunningham were Republicans until the Great Depression era. I haven’t heard of any activities in the Underground Railroad from my side of the Prevos (other than what you already have), so I will leave that for someone else to hopefully answer.

I, too, would like documentation for Rachel Prevo Ralston. Her parents said to be Asa Prevo and Elizabeth Unknown.

Believe that Malachi Prevo was, indeed, Rachel's brother. These two both married in Wayne Co, IN. Malachi named a son Asa C. Pevo. Rachel named a son Asa James Ralston.

Since your Malachi Prevo married Nancy Comer 1825 in Wayne Co, IN, then I looked at the 1820 census in Wayne Co and found a Samuel Prevo and a James Prevo listed.

The Samuel Prevo enumeration has just a young a couple in the household and am betting this is the Samuel Prevo who married Patty Addington 13 Jan 1820 in Wayne Co.

That leaves James Prevo - a very large household with the oldest male in the "45 and older" age bracket.

Do you think your Malachi Prevo could have come from this household?

I am searching for parents of Rachel Prevo who married Richard Ralston in 1823 in Wayne Co, IN. It is said that Rachel's parents were Asa Prevo and Elizabeth Unknown. My Rachel appears on only the 1850 census where she lists herself as age 48 and born VA. Supposedly, Richard and Rachel named one of their sons Asa James Prevo.

I see that your Malachi and Nancy named one of their sons Asa C. Prevo. A.C. Prevo appears on the 1860 Jasper Co, IN. census.

Your Malachi Prevo may appear on the 1830 census in Perry Co, IN.

Do you think we have a connection? Have you yet found parents for your Malachi Prevo?

I'm very curious about the circumstances under which the Prevo and Crow families migrated to Clark County, Illinois. From research, I understand that they moved west around 1817?
I'm curious whether these families also exhibited the same abolitionist tendencies of their relatives? Other members of the Lee family--particularly descendants of Jane Prevo's brothers, John, Nathan & Ephraim-- were Antislavery Quakers and active in the Underground Railroad. Do you know the political affiliations of the Prevo or Crow families?

I descend from Jane Lee's brother, Nathan and have been researching the Lee family's abolitionist activities in Tennessee, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa.

Their sister, Abigail Lee, married Reuben Crow and moved to Clark County, Illinois. Brothers John and Ephraim Lee also active abolitionists.

On my family tree I've only gotten to Samuel Prevo, b. 1751 in France. Does anyone have any more information on him before he came to the US?
I have his children listed as John, born 1765 in New Castle DE.,Alexander, b. 1767 in New Castle, DE., Daughter, b. 1770 in DE., Samuel Prevo Jr., b. 12 Jan. 1772 in Kent, DE., and Son, b. 1773 in DE.
My ancestor is John. I'd like to find out who his wife was. His children were; John, b. 1794 in NC, James B., b. 1798 in KY, Clark, b. 1800 in NC, Thomas J., b. 1806 in Wayne KY, and Jane, b. 1809 in Wayne, KY.
John's son Clark is my ancestor who's children are...George, b. 1821 in KY, Daughter, b. 1823 in KY, Polly, b. 1825 in KY, John, b. 12 Jun 1827 in Clinton, KY, (and who later moved to Jack Co., TX and died there.) Betsey, b. 1830 in KY, and 2 more daughters born in KY,
John, born in 1827 is my gr,gr grandfather.
His son John Calvin, b. in 1855 in Harrison Co., MO is my gr grandfather. I'd love to hear from anybody who may know something about him.

Jane Greer married John Westley Prevo on 12/20/1837 in Fountain Indiana. Their kids were Tillman, Mary, Elva, Thornton, Manford and Frank. The Greer line goes way back but I can't find past John Westley Prevo my ggg-grandfather. So I am looking for his parents

I am just starting to find some family history .I am running into a wall when it comes to the prevo's.My great grandmother is margret (prevo)nierenberger she was married to michael nierenberger.Her father was John prevo born in march 18 ,1888 and died march 6 1963.He married rosa brungardt.This is all I have been able to come up with.If you could give me any help it would be very appreciated.

Rachael Ellen Prevo/Thomas Querry

Does anyone have any evidence to support a theory that the Melissa Querry (age 8) shown living with Malachi and Nancy (Comer) Prevo in 1860 (Jasper Co., Indiana) is the daughter of Rachel Ellen Prevo and Thomas Querry? In 1870, a Mary M Querry, age 18, is living with Nancy Prevo (Jasper Co., Indiana) -- I am assuming that "Melissa" and "Mary M" are the same person. I've located one (unconfirmed) record that has Rachael's death in 1853 (she would have been 24). Thomas lists his age as 74 in 1870 census and was married to Rebecca Garwood Haines (age 69).
