I have traced my own family back to the 17th century and to a small village called Woolley, near Wakefield. From the end of the 18th century the direct line moved to the Barnsley area of Yorkshire. Along the way, various members of the family 'disappeared' and clearly went elsewhere! I would be interested in any news of Priestleys who have any connection to the areas I mention. I know of many Priestleys in the Bradford/Leeds area, including the scientist Joseph who emigrated to America, but haven't been able to make any links with them and my own branch - After all, we're all related, going back to the Shelf area where there is still Priestley Green.
