Priestly's in Australia?

Anyone out there have Priestly ancestors in Australia?

I have a Henry PRIESTLY, born abt 1838 in NSW, marrying Margaret RODGERS in 1858 at Christ Church, St Laurence, Sydney, NSW, Australia. Margaret was born in Ireland abt 1839, and arrived in Australia on the 'Equestrian' in 1849. Margaret died 1978 in Glebe NSW after about 8 children, and Henry died in 1918 in Liverpool NSW.

Henry's parents were Samuel PRIESTLY and Catherine SLATER (birth unknown), who married in Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1840. Samuel probably died in 1882 in Glebe NSW.

Any information that may connect to these would be greatly appreciated.

Maj. Gen. Neil McMicking's Book, The Officers of the Black Watch 1725-1952, page 73, has no listing for a Major George Priestly, but has has the following listing:

"PRIESTLY, EDWARD RAMSDEN; Major from 25th 17th July, 1857; Lieut. Colonel 10th Aug. 1858; died in command of the Regiment at Stirling 25th mar. 1868."

That would mean priestly was transferred to the 42nd regt. from the 25th Regt. His early records could be traced back thru the records of that regiment.

I am the great, great grand daughter of the George Priestley of New Brunwick. His son, also George, who settled in Tasmania at Westbury, kept detailed diaries from the time he joined the British Army in North America in 1849 until his death in 1909. I have most of the surviving diaries - over 100.
I have tried to find information about George Priestley who was the first born child of the Tasmanian George. His mother was Rose Ann Gillespie, the first wife of the Tasmanian George.
I am most interested to know your connection to the family and wonder if you have any information that might fill gaps in my knowledge.

Hannah Coney (born December 1836 Lincolnshire, England) married John Priestley 17 May 1858 at Boothby, Lincolnshire. They came to New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana. They are present in the Floyd County 1900 census. John died there 18 June 1907, leaving an unnamed widow. I cannot find Hannah in the 1910 census, but Floyd County has no death record. What happened to Hannah? (They had four children; would like to correspond with descendants.)

I just saw your posting. Lillian Priestley was born 18 April 1905 at Trading Post, Linn County, KS and died in Feb 1945 in Washington state. She was quite a bit younger than Charles Benedict Hadsall, who was born 12 Sept 1884 in Bates County MO. Amoret MO is in Bates county close to the Kansas border. She married Charles B Hadsall, at Paola Kansas on 6 Aug 1924. Lillie and C.B. Hadsall had a son Charles Gordon born 23 Jan 1929.

I am seeking any info on Major George Priestly 42nd Regiment who was stationed in New Brunswick in the 1800s. His first wife was possibly a Wallace from Belfast Ireland. He was widowed and remarried in NB.He predeceased his 2nd wife about 1872. One daughter of his first marriage Malvina married a Judge, Charles Watters. His son George Priestley [ nb spelling ] also served in the British Army in North America and later in the Crimea and India, before retiring to Westbury Tasmania Australia. Another son became a Dr and migrated to Argentina.

Hi, Trying to find info on the above family. I don't have much to go on. Charles Hadsall was born in 1885, possibly Mo. so maybe Lillian was born in that time frame. She passed away at an early age 30's -40's.

They lived in Amorette, Missouri for a time, Charles Hadsall later moved to Washington. I found a death date of 2/1965 in Washington State. Can't find anything on Lillian.
Would appreciate any help.
