Obit: Grace Edna (Prime) Powell b.1916 Horse Butte District, SK

POWELL - Grace Edna (nee Prime), aged 88 years of Saskatoon, Swift Current and most recently, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2005. In keeping with Grace's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Grace was born on November 3, 1916 in the Horse Butte district near Kyle, Saskatchewan. She married W.F. (Bill) Powell on July 16, 1943. Grace was predeceased by her parents W. Oswald and Jean Prime, husband Bill, brothers Jack, Ray and Gordon, sister-in-law Bea and partner Art Noble. She is survived by daughters Sharon Matthias, Donna Powell, Carol Weisgerber (David) and Janet Goodwin (Bill); grand children Raymond (Sue), Kristi, Jonathan, and Lindsay; sister Doreen Wilson and sisterin-law Marge Tisdale, along with numerous nieces and a nephew. The family is indebted to niece, Vicki (Prime) Shouldice, for her loving care during these past months, and to her family for their support and thoughtfulness. Grace graduated from Moose Jaw Normal School in 1938 and taught in the Horse Butte area. She took great joy as a choir member of Saskatoon Third Avenue United Church for almost 30 years, always enjoyed gardening and working with flowers, and still danced several times a week into her 80s. In the mid-1960s, Grace was one of the pioneer women life insurance agents, and focused on helping women to provide for their families. She was immensely proud of raising her four daughters. Nothing was more important then "my girls. " Grace had many cherished friendships and touched many people over the course of her life. She is remembered as a special lady. As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to Providence Place, 100 2nd Ave N.E. Moose Jaw S6H 1B8. Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, Moose Jaw.

Prime born abt 1860 in Albany, NY who I have also been trying to locate. Not certain if Horatio H. Prime married or if William E. Prime married as I cannot find either one on 1900 or 1910 census. I know they were living then as I did William in 1903 Albany City Directory and I found Horatio H. in a West Haven, CT City Directory which said that he removed to VT.

Prime/ Primer?

My name is Nicole Primer. I live in PA and I'm trying to figure out my "roots". My paternal Grandmother was named Bessie Primer (black- born ca. 1941)and she came from Mississippi to PA with her 10 (known) children. My guess is that her education was not very good and thus, she MAY have taken spelling liberties with the famliy last name: Prime, Primmer, Paramore, Parmer, and Priner have all occured to me as possibilities. She is now deceaced but I was hoping some of her kids have "family names"- like named for Aunts, cousins, etc... Maybe someone'll see Old Uncle Crawford Prime's name and be able to help? The kids are: Bert Preston, Robert, Darryl, Crawford, Fred, Janie, Janice, Estelle, Jean, and (?). Any info or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot, Nicole

What year was your William born and what year did he immigrate to Canada??? Could this William also have immigrated from Canada down to the United States in 1898???? All I know of the William Prime I am researching is that he was born in England in 1860 or 1861 and his year of immigration to the United States (the state of Vermont to be exact) was in 1898.

I too am researching some Prime's from the St. Albans, VT area. Having a little trouble as I am researching a William Prime. First shows up in the 1920's census living in Highgate which is only about 10-15 miles north of St. Albans with his wife Alice and daughter Flossie. Before that I find no mention of him in Vermont Census or any other state. Was wondering if he might not be related to your Horatio.

Horatio H. Prime

I am searching for Horatio H. Prime, born in NY in 1857. His parents were Leverett Prime and Sarah Fish. In the 1870 census Leverett Prime and family were living in St. Albans, VT and by 1900, Leverett and Sarah were living in Brooklyn, NY. From an 1908 New Haven, CT City Directory I found that Horatio H. Prime was living in New Haven but in 1908 he moved to Vermont. I cannot find him in the 1910 census index and would like to find out what happened to him.
Also, Horatio H. Prime had a sister, Marion Louisa Prime, who was living in St. Albans in 1870 and may have married there. Would like to know if there is anything on her also.
Thanks

Benjamin Prime 1814-1872, Horatio Phelps Prime 1808-1839

Lookiing for information on Benjamin Prime born in 1814 in CT and died in 1872, Osage, IA. He is listed in the 1850 US census in Oneida Co., NY and in 1870 in MItchell Co., IA and is buried in Osage cemetery. His wife's name was Margaret and she is listed in the 1880 IA census with son Edward Prime. I am trying to establish if this is the Benjamin Prime, son of Benjamin and his second wife, Hannah (Tuttle) Prime of New Haven, CT. A bible record of Benjamin and Hannah's mention that they had a son Benjamin born in 1814 and says that he married Margaret, no surname and no date.
Also looking for information on another son of Benjamin Prime and his first wife, Polly Phelps. Horatio Phelps Prime born in 1806, poss. VT and died in 1839 poss. in Troy, NY. Horatio married Emeline Bradley in 1827 in New Haven, CT and later moved to Troy, NY where he shows up in 1830 census. In later census for Troy Emeline is listed and living with son Leveret Prime. By 1880 Emeline was living in Brooklyn, NY with her daughter and family. Trying to find out what cemetery in Troy Horatio Phelps Prime is buried in.
And any other information on these Primes would be greatly appreciated.

Martin

I am a descendant of his brother, Benjamin Prime. Unfortunately I can't help you with Joseph but I would be interested in knowing where to get a hold of the the bapt. records for St. Lukes as I would like proof that Benjamin was born in Lanesborough. I have his birth year of 1774 from his family bible.

I do have information on the parents of Joseph, I'm certain you have the Prime family information, but do you have Hannah (King) Prime' ancestors? If you don't already have it let me know. I don't want to get into this letter too much, as you may not be reading it.

Martin
