My William was born 24 February 1785 in Queens County. His wife was Jane Gribbens or Gibbons born in Kings County, Ireland.

Our Pringles obviously must be related but I don't know how we prove it.

Did your Sarah have daughters named Catherine or Martha?

Hi Robbin I am connected to the Pringles of Ontario. My gr gr grandfather was Phillip Pringle. He was the son of Simeon Pringle (born 1783 Addington). Simeon's father was Joseph UEL, and his father was Joel. I've been trying to locate a Pringle family bible or some concrete evidence to show proof of this as I'm trying to get the UEL certificate. I have other older Pringle names if you need any help. Often the name was interchanged with Prindle. I'll see what info I can come up with regarding Mahetable Pringle. Hope to hear from you. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Elaine

I'm looking for an Alexander Pringle, born around 1832, most likely from Ontario. he immigrated to Michigan in the mid 1800's marrying a Lydia Hufford in Perrysburg, OH in 1865. He was found living in the first parish of Muskegon, MI in 1870 but back in Perrysbury by 1880 where he died in 1890. His parents according to census records are his father is from Canada, but his mother is from PA. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I am no closer to a answer to this puzzle of mine. Here's what I do know: My paternal grandmother was Phyllis (Phillis) Pringle and married Alfred Brydges b.1865 or 1870, also I have a pic sent to my father Charles Alfred Brydges around 1945-1950. On the back it says 'from Auntie Belle Lovingly yours Dr Isabel T Donaldson, Medford, Oregon U.S.A. Her mother was Jane Pringle and they both attended dad's sister Ellison's wedding in 1928 Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also attending was Mr and Mrs Arthur Brydges of Selkirk, Manitoba. Jane Pringle may have been Jane Melville married to John or Thomas Pringle.

Sam, I've just begun to research my PRINGLE surname. All I have is a lot of other Pringle's hard work. I see where you descend from Abraham's son John A. whereas I descend from Abraham's son, Samuel T. Samuel T.'s daughter, Martha Pringle is my ggrandmother. I am very interested in doing my Pringle line and hope to learn more. Another posting of yours discouraged me from obtaining the "Rogers'Skelton & Allied Families" book. Is that correct? Not enough Pringle in it?
Thanks for your help.
Merlene

Cannot connect directly to mine however I have a number of Ontario PRINGLE family members in my tree. They originate from John PRINGLE B abt 1821 Inverness SCOTLAND and his wife Elizabeth URQUHART b Abt 1821 Dingwall Ross and Cromarty. They emigrated from SCOTLAND to Ontario and had the following children:-

Alexander b abt 1855 Ontario d 1934 Blenheim Ontario;

Catherine b 1859 Ontario d 1939 Minto Ontario;

Jessie b abt 1861 Ontario;

Elizabeth b abt 1862 Ontario d 1949 Minto Ontario;

Donald b abt 1864 Ontario;

John b abt 1878 Ontario;

I know that Donald and Alexander married but that is about all the detail I have I would expect Elizabeth to have been a common name among their descendants.

Have you managed to find anything in the Canadian Census results?

I have a lot more data on the Scotland side of this family mostly around Inverness and Ballater in Aberdeenshire if anyone can make a connection.

David F BOATH
Dalgety Bay
Fife
SCOTLAND

Her husband was THOMAS BRENNEN born 1889 and died in 1973. I know nothing of her family or my great grandfathers family beyond this point. There are no records available to me.

I know of one child born to them, my grandfather: Gerald John Brennen who passed away in Nipigon, Ontario. Many years before he passed away I questioned him about our family and he could provide me with no information of any kind.

Thank You in advance for any information that is provided as a result of this post.

Heather

He and his first wife Mary Johnston named their first child Hamilton Pringle in 1825. Mary's sister was called Hamilton and their mother was called Hamilton Bruce .... I wonder if these Pringles and had a common ancestor?

I am looking for James Pringle ancestry (mother, father, siblings, etc).

James was married to Hannah Jane Storring born 1837 in ontario. I have identified the following children from this union as George, Thomas, Mary, William, Eliza and Agnes. Jane Pringle (nee Storring) went on to marry A Fletcher and then a Sedore. Jane died in april, 1921.

Martin Luther Pringle was my grandfather and his maternal grandmother was the above Jane.

I would be most grateful for any information, not identifying James and his family is a major stumbling block to the completion of the paternal line.

Arlene

Our Pringles are probably related as Pringle doesn't seem to be a common name in Queens County. My gr.gr.gr.grandfather William Pringle came to Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1817. When his wife died in 1818, he made his way up to York, Upper Canada, present day Ontario, Canada. His chidren were named George, Catherine and Martha. Do you have any information on Sarah's parents?

Patricia

Does anyone have a Mary Pringle married to a Thomas Howard? Family definitely from Ireland - possibly Cork. Known sons born in Cork are William (approx. 1799), Michael (approx. 1804), and Martin (approx. 1807). Sons left Cork approx. 1829 and settled in Washtenaw County, Michigan in 1831.

Captain Samuel Pringle

Morning, wanted to let you all know of a great book that is now out or Captain Samuel Pringle and his family lines.

It is called, "Seedlings of the Sycamore Tree", and was researched by Jerry Pringle. If any on you are in this line and would like a copy, please email me at: karen6882@comcast.net or put a post on this site..

Captain Samuel Pringle and his brother John escaped from the "British" Fort Pitt, back in the Revolutionary era and lived in the base of a large Sycamore tree for several years. Ones of you who would be interested in this book, would know the history of these brothers and Captain Samuel Pringle's war history. Let me know if you or someone you know would like a copy and I will give you his email address. The cover of this book is a picture of the large Sycamore tree, outside of Buckhannon, WV., in Upshur county. I joined the Daughters of the American Revolution, under my Patriot Captain Samuel Pringle. Take care, Karen
i have an update based on a veritable treasure chest of family papers my uncles sent me: my Alexander Hamilton Pringle got his middle name from his mother, Agnes Hamilton. His father George Pringle (b 1786 earlston, died 1878 St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada) had actually preceded him to Canada (which was news to me) in 1832.
Not sure how this ties in with captain john...maybe they were cousins?

My brick wall has a few chinks in it...I know Alexander Hamilton Pringle (b. 1809 in Earlston, Scotland) came to Canada (montreal)in 1833, married Ann Whyte shortly thereafter then settled in Ontario (Cobourg, Port Hope area). He was a watchmaker/jeweller. I also have a graveyard full of dead Pringles in Earlston, Scotland...problem is, I don't know which ones (if any) Alex H belongs to. Any help much appreciated.

Box 340, Burkeville, TX 75932. I have another question for you. Do you know how to contact the person who is the owner of "The Warbington Quest" family tree? The ID is LauraTom38, but it does not accept emails. This person has a section of Pringles in their tree that trickles down as close as my grandmother, who was Martha Pringle daughter.

We come from the same line of Pringles. I come from Samuel T. Pringle, a son of Abraham Pringle, same as your John A. Pringle. I have just recently started on my Pringle line which is my Dad's maternal grandmother. I got as far back as Samuel T on my own and suspected that Abraham was mine. I got confirmation of Abraham from Deanne Coffield's Pringle website on rootsweb.com. You have a wonderful Family Tree on Ancestry.com. GOOD JOB.

Dan,

I have quite a bit of info on Abraham Pringle but I have not verified any of it except for the censuses that I have found him on. I have just recently, in October last year, started back on researching my Pringle line. It has been a while. I’ve found lots of info on the rootsweb site of Pringle-Cotton-Walton Family File, but I have not verified all of it myself. Also, found some info on Delores Pringle’s rootsweb site Pringle-L Archives. A lot of it agrees with what I have found from different sources. I descend from Abraham’s son Samuel Pringle. Samuel comes from Abraham’s first wife, Mary Clark. Mary died sometime between 1830 and 1840, I believe. I don’t have any information on the ancestry of Anna Bromfield. I only know that he was married to her sometime after 1840.

I would like to get a copy of the “Rogers-Skelton and Allied Families” book but have not been able to do so. The author evidently researched our Pringles quite extensively.

Sorry I can’t help you at the moment, but I plan to make a trip to Lauderdale County MS soon to try and verify the documents of at least the latter part of Abraham’s life. My goal was to trace our Pringle back to Scotland/Ireland but I have not been able to as yet. My father told me his Pringle ancestor was Irish, but the name Pringle comes from Scotland. I will let you know if I find out anything on Anna.

Your email address is not accepting email.

Merlene Lovelace
