EMMA PARSONS STEWART
Emma Caroline PARSONS STEWART, daughter of Alfred Prior and Charlotte Vanderworker, was born on a farm north of Ada, Kansas, June 13, 1885 and passed away at Asbury hospital in Salina, Sept. 13, 1972 at the age of 87 years.
On Feb. 18, 1909 she was united in marriage to Colman S. Parsons. To this union four children were born: three sons, Alfred, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Roscoe of Milwaukie, Ore.; and Norman of Ada; and a daughter Maxine DeBolt of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Colman S. Parsons in 1960.
In 1968 she was married to Charles STEWART who also preceded her in death in March, 1972.
She was a faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church, and an active member of the Ada community until moving to Rock City manor in Minneapolis, where she resided until her death.
In addition to her children, she is survived by 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday morning at the Antioch Baptist church in Ada with the Rev. C.E. Bodenhamer officiating. Mrs. Jack Shafer was the organist and Mrs. James Van Meter was the singer.
Casket bearers were Cleo Atchley, Francis Van Meter, Virgil Umbarger, Louis Van Meter, Henry Stelter and Deane White. Interment was in Fairview cemetery.
(Her parents were actually Charlotte White and Alfred Prior. Charlotte was married first to Melvyn Van Derwerken in 1871. They had one daughter, Catherine Alice. After Melvyn's death in Feb. 1875, she married Alfred Prior in 1878. Emma was the third of their 4 children.)
