Dr. Probst, Sanatorium Head, Dies of Pneumonia
Active in Ohio Health Work Since 1866--Funeral Will Be Held Tomorrow

Dr. Charles O. Probst, 75, superintendent of the Franklin County Tuberculosis Sanatorium, died Sunday afternoon at his home, 1410 Oak street. He had been ill a week of pneumonia.

Dr. Probst, since 1886, had been active in Ohio health work.

He was born at Middleport, O. [Meigs County], and acquired his early education in the schools of that city. He was graduated from the Miami Medical College at Cincinnati [Hamilton County] in 1882.

He practiced medicine for two years at West Columbia, W. Va. [Mason County], and then opened an office in Athens, O. [Athens County]. In 1886, he was appointed secretary of the State Board of Health, serving in this capacity for 25 years.

Was Medical Professor.
Dr. Probst was professor of hygiene at the old Starling Medical College for many years.

He was secretary of the American Public Health Association for more than 10 years a also was a former president of this organization.

Dr. Probst was a former president of the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and the State Board of Health.

He was a member of the Ohio State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis, and the American Climatological and Clinical Health Association.

Funeral Tomorrow.
The doctor also was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and an honorary life member of the COLUMBUS Club.

Besides his widow, Dr. Probst is survived by two sons, Karl Probst, Toledo [Lucas County], and Leighton Probst, San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Earl Probst, Middleport, O., and a sister, Mrs. Lelia Hudson, COLUMBUS.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at the Schoedinger Co. chapel and will be conducted by Dr. E. F. Chauncey, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. The body will be cremated.
