Prochnows from Rugenwalde

Am researching Prochnow family from Rugenwalde. Early 1860's Churchbook records in Ontario Canada say "Regenwald" but thinking perhaps the same placename. Wilhelm Prochnow, born in July 1829, came to Canada about 1854. One child born to Wilhelm Prochnow & Louisa Mantenfel (Hermann about 1853 Germany died in Ontario). Later wife, Elizabeth Thoel from same area Germany. Sister Amelia b1840 also came Canada at same time or close to and married John Dietz. Auguste Otilie Pauline b1834 & Frederike Louise b1830 also came to Canada similar emigration date on census for Canada. Not sure but they may have been siblings. Any guidance you are able provide regarding these individuals or doing research in area of Regenawald would be greatly appreciated.

Amelia Prochnow's 3 Page letter has been translated

I now have a translation for Amelia Prochnow's (Schulz) 3 page old German letter. She said that the letter was being written to her family on Oct 1931 seven years from the date her sister (Henrietta Prochnow Speaker) was buried. She mentioned that times were hard and that the different men in the family were having trouble selling. I beileve they were operating a National Shirt shop and with so many people out of work and out of money that is not hard to believe. She mentioned family members who were having health problems. She addresses the letter to Schalli and also signs it Schalli which the person who translated the letter says appears to be is a nick name. Is anyone familiar with this word? She also closes with Toi toi which they said means "I cross the fingers". I have waited a long time for a translation and it might not seem like much of a letter but I value it because it was written by Amelia in German in 1931.
Karolyn Witte

Looking for information on Amelia Procknow 1870-1944 who married John C Schulz 1857-1935. I have a letter that I found in her records that is written in old German that I would like to have translated because I believe it might contain clue to genealogy.

Heneritta Prochnow Speaker

I saw your post Re: Heneritta and wanted to get in touch with you. My husband is Robert Witte Jr from Birmingham AL. Amelia Prochnow was my husband's ggrandmother and the sister of Heneritta Prochnow Speaker. I have a letter from Ruth and John Speakman from Midland MI dated Aug 9, 1944 to the family here in Birmingham. I also have some very old pictures of a visit from the Birmingham Schulz and Witte families to the Speakers. I would very much like to to contact you and exchange information because the family members that still are living are my husband's father and his twin brother, Robert and Cornelius Witte. Neither is interested in the family history and therefore they are of no help to me. I also have a German Bible of Amelia's and it has some loose papers in it. There is a telegram about a family member dying and I beleive it was Heneritta. The story my sister-in-law (also Amelia) remembers is that the sisters Amelia and Heneretta were separated upon arriving to this country and I don't beleive that they ever saw each other alive again. Do you know anything about this?
I look forward to hearing from you. I am also going to send you an email at the address I was able to locate for you and hope that I am able to make contact.
Karolyn Witte

Amelia Prochnow F/U

Bev,
I mailed a copy of the 3 page letter that is in Germany and a copy of Henrietta's confirmation certificate with two pictures of Amelia in later life. Amelia was separated from her family when she arrived in US and never saw them again but her children and grandchildren have visted the family of Henrietta and I believe also John.
I have pictures of that visit and I also have an old letter from the Speaker to the Schulzs and Wittes. Amelia's and John C Schulz's two daughters married Witte brothers. Ida Kate Schulz m Cornelius S Witte and Annie Schulz m Adolph Witte.
When I mailed the information to you I didn't send a return envelope but would love to get a copy of the picture that you mentioned or anything else you might have reguarding Amelia and her family. Let me know how much you need for any copies and postage and I will gladly send it. My Father-in-law and his twin are 89 and are the only surviving grandchildren. My Father-in-law loved Amelia dearly so I would love to suprise him with the information. My husband was a small child when Amelia died and has very little memory of her.
Karolyn Kennedy Witte

Ulricke and Wilhelm Prochnow

I'm looking for any connections to the Ulricke and Wilhelm Prochnow family. Ulricke Prochnow's maiden name was Fuhrman. So far, I am aware of only two of their children: Albert(1867-1932) and Martha(1873-1930). Ulricke lived with Martha and her husband August Labs for a few years.
Albert married Albertine Labs(1865-1919).
These folks lived in Douglas County in the Jefferson Pct. near Bennington and Elkhorn.
Thank you for your time.
labs@tconl.com
