I recently obtained a photo of a lady, who is identified as "Friend, Myrtle PROCK.

The woman who had them all of these years, was born and grew up in Oklahoma. In the 1910 census the she lived in Wittich Township in Franklin County, Oklahoma & was 8 years old at the time the census was taken. I did some research on the PROCK girl and it appears that she was in the 1900 Pottawatomie census. I don't know at what point in life they were friends, but I thought I'd include both census's information.

I'd like to locate family to send this to. For details, please contact me at: digginroots@hotmail.com

Kathy
My cousin Donald Lee Martin died in Ft. Gibson on 14 Dec 1990 and was interred at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery (Sect. 14, Site 555). Perhaps someone visiting the cemetery this year could take a photo of his grave marker and email it to me? An obituary published in the local Post or City Newspaper also would be much appreciated, because I'm trying to find the names of his wife and children to complete my family history project. Or perhaps the Ft. Gibson Nat'l Cemetery has a record of their names? Thanks very much.
Jerry Coffman
Delray Beach, FL
I had thought Sarah was : " Sarah Evelyn Proctor" until recently when the parents I thought were hers were attached to another Sarah Proctor and upon inquiry a very nice researcher took up the question and prove that my Sarah was ' Sarah Eveline Prock" as evidenced by 1850 & 1860 census in Wright County, Missouri and her marriage to George Neal in Illnois 22 May 1962 in Macoupin Co. Illinois.
I would like to know more about her parents and siblings, and her children: Rosa Neal (Mrs. James Johnson )and Columbus Cleveland Neal, & Thomas Anderson Neal and the twins born to Sarah and James Drake in 1879 on 13 October: Silas Edwin ( he usually used Neal and not Drake) and Viola Mae who used Drake for married license, and Neal in 1900 census when she resided with Rosa and her family.
I can not find Sarah in 1900 ( she reportedly married a Mr. Ford )and can't find ANYTHING on James Drake except what is on the 1880 census.
Alot of research still to be done!! Thanks for any assistance

I would be VERY interested in knowing who was living in John Franklin Prock's household between 1900 and 1910. My 2great-grandfather, John Harvey Willbanks, married Essie Hannah Denton of Howell County, MO, on 30 Jan 1906.

John Harvey listed his residence on the marriage license application as Hollis, Greer County, Oklahoma. I have the understanding that there were Procks living in that area, and was wondering if maybe John didn't live with any of his relatives there. His mother was Mary E. (Polly) Prock Willbanks, daughter of Paul J. and Eleanor Herndon Prock.

John Harvey may or may not have been living with a previous wife in Hollis. He married Ida Belle Wyzard in 1892 in Howell County, MO, the daughter of Alexander and Mary Elizabeth McCarty Wyzard.

Thanks for any information!

Lisa

I'm afraid I did not know Calvin.

Calvin's great grandfather was William Rufus Prock Jr. He was a judge in Wright County Missouri. He had a large family. He was murdered by a group of men who came to his home and called him outside. They shot him. It was in the summer or fall of 1865, the year the Civil War ended.

Jefferson David and Julian Frazier were Judge Prock's children by his second wife, Massey Jane Wilson. They had a great many half brothers and sisters from their father's first marriage to Harriet Johnson. After the judge's death, Massey Jane moved to Arkansas. She married Mr. Moorland and they had a son named Jimmie. They grew up there in the Fulton County area of AR. After they were married and had families they formed a wagon train and came to the Red Oak area to settle. The wagon train included Jimmie Moorland, Julian Frazier Prock, Jeffereson David Prock, and a few others. This was around 1901.
Please let me know if you have more questions. I enjoy talking about our ancestors.

I'm sorry it took this long to get back to you but, apparently, I lost the thread until today. I logged on to "www.google.com" and entered "Winter Galley". I got 655 hits. You may want to start there. Paul Brack or Prack was 21 according to several of the ship manifests. I'm sure you can find a lot more by reviewing the 655 hits. Good luck.

Thanks for contacting me. I really do appreciate it!! My husband's family came from Tennessee, as far as I know. Both the Love's and the Prock's were found in Tn. They were in Sumner and Macon County. I don't believe any of them were from Mo. Thanks for the offer of help though.

Alicia,

The ship on which Paul Prock(Prack) was aboard may have touched land in England before continuing to America in order to make the passengers subject to British rule. This was quite common in the 1700s. I'll dig around and see if I can find something about 'Deal'.

Many Germans migrated to NC after first landing in the USA because NC became a center for those of the Moravian faith. If your records show that he might have been of that faith, then you may want to check Moravian church records in NC, TN, PA and elsewhere.

In the meantime, I'll check to see if the 'Winter Galley' left any ancestoral tracks and I'll get back to you.

Ed

German Prock Roots

Our earliest known ancestor was Paul Prock (also spelled Prack on the ship’s passenger list). He was German and arrived in Philadelphia in 1738, if memory serves. The ship was the Winter Galley and left from Rotterdam, then came to the colonies by way of Deal. I assume Deal is another port, but I haven’t located the country. He married and had a child in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia. After that, the migration moved East to NC, TN, MO, AR. There are several of my Prock family living in Red Oak OK.

I would certainly be interested in learning more about where our Paul Prock came from in Germany.
apeptulsa@yahoo.com
I noted in your message the referral to the Benton AKA Old Pleasant Hill Cemetery. I posted a query on the Wright County site, and got an immediate reply as to the location of the cemetery. So, I am passing it on.
Source quoted: Wright County, Missouri Cemetery Inscriptions, Vol. V
"Benton Cemetery is located four miles west of Hartville, Mo., on Hwy 38. This cemetery is down in a field on the banks of Woods Fork in Gasconade township."
Thanks to the "Linton Family", we have an answer as to where it is!

Sarah Evaline Prock

Hello, My Great Grandmother was Sarah Evaline Prock (born 24 Feb 1844) and her father was Silas S. Prock of Wright County, Missouri.
I am seeking contact with "Cousins"
and also trying to confirm where Silas and his wife Elizabeth Townsend Prock are buried, and his parents also...William Rufus and Agatha Maul Prock.
Sarah Evaline married George Neal in Illinois on 22 May, 1862 and they had Rosa in Illinois in 1866, and then moved back to Missouri and had 2 sons: Thomas Alexander Neal in 1871 and Columbus Cleveland Neal in 1875. Then George died ( but have not found when nor where)and she maybe married his brother and then married ( per 1880 Census) James Drake and had twins: Silas Edwin Drake ( Silas used the surname Neal) and Viola Mae Drake (who used Neal on occasion). Sarah Evaline may have married "Mr Ford" in the 1890s. She died 2 Mar 1901 and is buried as "Sarah E. Neal" in Mt Horeb Cemetary, Slater, Saline Co., Missouri.
Thanks for any help...

On Marthena (Prock) Williams' death cert,it states her Father is William Prock,on her brother, Levi's death cert,it states his Father is "Yowell" Prock,I believe this is the one who was called "Bill Yell".Anyway, William and Elizabeth and family are listed 1850 and 1860,Wright Co,havn't found them after this date. They possibly died in Wright Co,but could have left during the Civil War. We believe she was the child of a marriage between Wilfred Nelson BYERS and Layton SAVAGE (of Ranger, TX). Because of a divorce and remarriage of her mother, she may have used the name of SAULMON prior to her own marriage to (?) PROCK. We believe she is our long lost "Aunt X."

William Rufus Prock was also my gggrandfather,he was a Wright county Judge, who was killed by Bushwackers, on his doorstep. You are probably a descendant of William R and his 2nd wife, Massey Jane Wilson, their sons, Julian and David Prock went to Latimer county OK.

Hello! I saw your message, and I don't have much on your Silas Prock, only what was sent to me by someone else. I can't help you much on where Silas and Elizabeth are buried. All I have is that he was born in 1808 in NC and died in 1858. He and Elizabeth were married in Monroe County, TN in 1826. Silas is the son of William and Agatha Maul Prock.

Found this, you may already have it:

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Let me know what you discover! I'm a Prock descendant, through William's and Agatha's son, Paul J. and wife, Eleanor. Their daughter, Mary Ellen (Polly) Prock (b. 1842) married John Edward Willbanks (b. 1844). Their son, John Harvey Willbanks, married Ida Belle Wyzard of Howell County, MO. Their son, John Wesley Willbanks, married Maude Luella Green(e). Their daughter, Betty, married Gilbert James Rue, Sr.. Their son, Gilbert James Rue, Jr. is my father.

Lots of luck,

Lisa
