I found several Hilsmans (one L)listed as having lived in Prussia in the 1700-1800's. My earliest Hilsman in the US was born here c. 1649, d. 1704. We also have information of a Sir Knight Crusader Johan von Hilsman in 1096 (sp?) but no other information on him or between him and our John Hilsman in Virginia, US.
Does anyone have any information at all before John Hilsman in America? We are trying to determine where this family originated. We have seen the name in Wurttemberg and also in the Netherlands.
