PUHALLA Agnes Walick

YOUNGSTOWN – Agnes Susan Puhalla, 84, of the city’s Cornersburg area, passed away early Saturday morning, March 31, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio following a brief illness.

Agnes was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Filbert, Pa.,(Fayette County) a daughter of the late John Walick and Susan Janov Zimovian Walick and came to Youngstown, Ohio in November of 1946 after she graduated from Redstone Township High School in Republic, Pa. earlier that year.

She worked as an operator for Ohio Bell, as a clerk for People’s Drugs in Cornersburg and in custodial services for the Youngstown City Schools, retiring in July of 1996.

Mrs. Puhalla was a member of St. Christine Church in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies’ Association, Branch 169.

Agnes leaves six children, Robert M. Puhalla of Youngstown, Richard J. (Jie) Puhalla of Saipan, Ronald E. Puhalla of Youngstown, Susan P. Victor of Youngstown, Thomas J. Puhalla of St. Augustine, Fla. and John J. (Margaret) Puhalla of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Caroline, Yu-Lin, Andrew, and Alyssa; a sister, Mary Dolce of New Port Richey, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Marie and Betty Walick, both of Parma, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Michael M. Puhalla, whom she married July 2, 1949, passed away Jan. 28, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, John Zimovian, and John Wallick, Joseph Walick and Edward Walick; and three sisters, Margaret Pyne, Anne Edmunds and Frances Skiber.

Agnes will be truly missed by all who loved her.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a Cursillo Bible Vigil will take place at 7:45 p.m.

Funeral services will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Christine Church.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

THOMAS J. PUHALLA, beloved husband of Penny (nee Tedor). father of Thomas (Nancy), Amy and Michelle Lariviere. Devoted grandfather of McCartney Eliza and Ivy Morgan Puhalla. Dear brother of Patricia Gambino. Loving uncle and friend of many.
Thomas was a native of Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Augusta, GA., in 2005.
He was a Piping Designer Engineer with CH2M Hill Lockwood Greene. Golfing was his passion and he also enjoyed bowling.

Funeral
Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at St. Clare Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.
