Anyone doing research on the Va Pulleys ever run across the name Hannah Mary or maybe Mary Hannah Pulley b. about 1822 in Lunenburg Va.? She is my g-g-grandmother. She married Benjamin Franklin Cagle, possibly in Davidson County Tenn. in about 1840 and she died in Johnson County Illinois in 1888. Any help would be deeply appreciated. I am stuck on her line at this point. Email me direct at larrydh2@verizon.net.
Thanks so much
Larry Hill

I don't have any information on Mahala Franklin except that she married William Pulley,III on 20 Dec 1827 and her father's name was George A. Franklin. She was William's first wife. His second wife Sarah Baker was my great-great-grandmother.

Hi Brent Or maybe I should say cousin.

William Pulley III was my g-g-grandfather. I to am curious about the possible Native American heritage. I don't have my genealogy stuff handy. Have you tried contacting Betty Pulley in Oklahoma she might have some information. Email me direct @ PSPulley @msn.com and I'll give you her email address.

Pam

Hi Marge,
I think we might be related. I too have a William Pulley in my line. Actually I have three of them Father, Son, and Grandson from the mid to late 1700's to early to mid 1800's. My line is my father Robert Jay Pulley. My grandfather Ira Jefferson Pulley. My g-grandfather Daniel Clinton Pulley. My g-g-grandfather William Pulley. My g-g-g-grandfather William Pulley and my g-g-g-g-grandfather William Pulley. I believ that two of the William Pulley's were born in Lunnenberg, Co. Va. and I think the other one was born either in Ill., Ohio, or TN. One of the Williams was married to a Mahala Franklin do you know anything about her? Also in my Pulley line there is a Native American Heritage Rumor going around but so far no one is able to prove it. Are you able to shed any light on this.

Pam

Hello Cousin,
Sorry it took so long for me to respond I had put aside my geneaology research for a few years.
You are related if the other names mean anything to you. We have another Pulley cousin that lives in Miami, OK that has quite a bit of info on the Pulley side of the family. We also have a cousin in NC that has information on the Rupert side of the family. I'm trying to either confirm or dispell the rumor that the Pulley side of the family might be part Native American either Delaware or Cherokee or maybe even a combination as both tribes were on the same reservation.

I just read this series of posts regarding the Skimahorn/Case families of Jackson County. My great-grandmother was Milla Bertha Skimahorn, daughter of Wade Skimahorn and Mariah Anderson and sister to Mary Jane "Cotton Tail" Skimahorn referred to in an earlier post. I too always heard that Milla Skimahorn was at last half Native American but have never been able to prove it. I'd love to learn more about the stories of the families that moved to McLean/Hopkins/Muhlenberg Counties. Milla Bertha Skimahorn married William Pharris also from Jackson County. They also moved their family to Hokpins County, Ky in the late 1890s. I have done some research on the Skimahorn-Case-Finn-Gipson-Pharris families and would love to share information.

I may have a lead for the "case family Cherokee".Look on this record:"Intruders on cherokee lands records 1804-1813" possiblely page 15. Describes an Evan Jones baptizing the childen of Samuel Keys. Some records spell "case" as "keys" The children are Mary, Elizabeth, william, and Ann. My grandma was Edna Mae case. Her father being George Case and brother to Edna james Case. I don't know the location of this event. I do know the family originates from flyn's lick area of Tennessee. My family has spoken of indian heritage. My grandpa Thomas C.Jones husband of Edna Mae is a decendant of Tobias Gipson. I don't doubt their claims by family features/tone which continue in our family.

Minnie Pulley, born abt 1904, London, England

She died in Enderby, British Columbia, Canada in 1983, 79 years old. In Canada she married John A. Lidstone.
She came to Canada with Alfred and Florence Parkes. Minnie referred to them as uncle and aunt, and within the Parkes family in BC, it was believed that Minnie was the daughter of a Parkes in England. According to unconfirmed information, Minnie also had a twin brother(sister) somewhere in England.
In her obituary in 1983, she was survived by sisters Maud Shaw, London England, and Miss Ethel Pulley, London.
That means that Minnie must have been a Pulley, and since I cannot find any Parkes that fit, I believe more and more that the Pulley family is the right track.
In the 1901 Cencus, England I have found a Pulley family in Wandsworth, Thomas, 37, wife Minnie, 33, and children, William, Frank, Ethel and Maude.
My theory is that Minnie was born in 1903/04, had a twin brother, and for some reason or another gave Minnie to Alfred and Florence Parkes for upbringing.
Can someone help me in this matter?
In Enderby, BC, Canada, Minnie was known as Quieny, and was always looked upon to be the cousin of my wifes mother, Sheila Florence Blackwood.
