Sounds like the Boltz/Pulse family that migrated from Penn. to West Virginia to Tenn. and then on to Missouri. I am not currently working that branch. I have forwarded you request to the Boltz reunion corridinator for that branch in Missouri. You might also try: Boltz/Puls/Pulse/Pults/Pultz family of America through Johann Michael Boltz By Paul William Boltz, Robert Gene Gerard - in several libraries and Library of Congress - http://books.google.com/books?id=c03aGwAACAAJ&dq=boltz+p... Hope this helps

My grandmother Ida May Wilson Baskett was deaf/mute. The school for the deaf where she went to school in Fulton, Missouri (and met my deaf/mute grandfather, Martin Lee Baskett) listed her mother as Tennessee Pulse. It did not have any information on the family, nor the name of her father. Does anyone have information on any of this?

My Grandfather was Edward Hopson Pulse. He was born 1899 +- 2 yrs...in Macon City Missouri. He had 2 children in Texas.
One of them was my mother (Ellen Jane Pulse, 1928 +-). She always said she was born in Wheeler, but no record can be found. There is a 1930 census with her, my Grandmother and Grandfather in Oklahoma. She was 2 + years old at the time.

They had another baby (Buda Mae Pulce) in Hays County, Tx., 1933. No other records, just birth.

And in 1930, they had a child in Arkansas (Lilly Agnus Pulse). She died a few years ago.
So did my mother.
Buda is the only one left and I don't even know if she is alive.

Edward Hopson Pulse married Stella (May/e) WAKEFIELD but I don't know where or when. She was my Grandmother.

I have reason to believe that William Perry Pulse is related to my Grandfather.

Do we have anything in common?

Please e-mail me.

vmbotica@yahoo.com

I'm sorry, I have no info on Nancy O. McKann, other than the fact that she married John L. Pulse on Dec. 22, 1869. The 1880 U. S. Census shows John L. Pulse as widowed & with five children ranging in age from 9 yrs, down to 5 mos, living with him. So Nancy McKann must have died either in late 1879, or early 1880. John L. Pulse married his 2nd wife, Virginia Claughton, on Dec. 4, 1881.
I recently found my family in Kansas, Franklin County. You might try the Ottawa library. They were a great help to me. If that fails Ottawa has a separate historical society associated with the train terminal in the city. They have a large collection and the lady that runs the group was very helpful. Found a picture of my GreatGreatGrandfather's business partner. My family arrived in 1868 and my line left in 1880, but they left branches there that I did not explore.

My family line went next to Kansas City then to Joplin, Missouri, and then to Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Re: Catherine Pulse

I do have some information on Nathan Jackson Phillips. He was married to Catherine Pulse 20 Sep 1837 in Grainger County Tennessee. They divorced in 1851. A copy of the divorce decree is available from the Greene County Circuit Court in Springfield, Greene, Missouri. They were the parents of 4 children, 1) Mary Lucretia Phillips ( My great-great grandmother), 2) Lucy Jane Phillips 3) Margaret E. Phillips ( she died at age 22) 4) Sarah Ann Phillips. Some of this family is buried at Brookline Cemetary, Brookline, Greene, Missouri.

He married in Newton County in 1851 to Obedience Lauderdale and they had one daughter, Francis Cornelis Phillips.

Nathan J. Phillips died at Neosho, Newton County Missouri and his obituary is in the Newton County News of May 18, 1893. There is also a very nice write-up on him on pages 391-392 of the McDonald and Newton County sections of Goodspeed's County Histories published in 1888. It says he was born in Grainger County Tennessee 10 April 1819. It gives his father as Nathan Phillips and mother Winnie Martin, both born in Virginia. It says Nathan was one of 8 siblings and that he was the only one still living at the writing of this article. He was reared in Tennessee and in 1837 immigrated to Greene County, Missouri. In 1849 he went to California and in 1851 returned to Newton County Missouri. He went on 2 cattle drives to California. He also served in the State Legislature. This is getting quite long. There is quite a bit more information there if you care to look it up. He was quite a fellow.

Do you have information about Sarah and William, his birthdate of death date and place and their marriage, his parents names and where born and/or died?

Any help would be great. I have hit a wall with Catherine Pulse and her family. Any body have information on her family?

Sincerely,

Norma S. Hovey

Thank you so much for your reply. I have a different set of children with my Catherine so am not sure what is right. The children I have are Catherine, Betty, Mattie, Lish, and Nancy. This list was given to me by an elderly relative. We do both have Nancy. These people liked to use nick names so I don't know. They could be the same family.

The marriage record of Nathan J. Phillips to Katharine Pulse says 20 Sept. 1837. This information is on the Vital Records Microfilm # 56300000 from Salt Lake City. It's called "Marriage Records 1796-1837, Grainger, Tennessee. It gives Nathan I. Phillips but this is the same person as Nathan J. Phillips.

The bondsman was William McAlhaney. Nathan's brother, Joel Phillips, married Lucy Pollard McAlhaney. I don't have McAlhaney lines researched but I'll be willing to bet Joel's wife is a relative to the bondsman, William.

e-mail me if you have more questions. I will keep looking for connections to Catherine Pulse to see if I can find more proof of her family. Thanks for your help.
Norma

Children of Nathan Phillips and Winifred Martin continued: John Phillips, Nancy Phillips, Rebecca Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Elizabeth Phillips, and Nathan Jackson Phillips b. 20 Apr 1819. I did not do this research, it was sent to me by someone else so you will want to varify information. Hope this helps.
Norma

Sara Pulse

thank you for responding to my request for information. I am trying to locate anything I can on my mother's family and until this have been running into "brick walls".

Sara Pulse and James Madison Stewart are reportedly my grandmother's parents. My grandmother,June (Stewart) Prahl was born June 10, 1880; where is not really known for sure; she had been known to say, Kansas, Arkansas, and/or Missouri. I am searching all those states also. Gram Prahl had two daughters, my mother, Eda Bessie (1902-04?) and my aunt, Floren(z)ce (Oct. 1905-7?). With these dates in mind Sara Pulse could have married James Madison Stewart somewhere around 1875+/- I would think. Not knowing the usual age of marriage (16-20?)Sara might have been born 1850-1855? As I am new to this I don't have it all neatly packaged yet.
Again, thank you for your kind response. I hope I have provided enough information to determine whether or whether not this could be in your family too.

The Hunt for Sara . . .

I really like the way you put that - the hunt for Sara - one of my columns some years ago described one of the people that I inverviewed as saying that no, he didn't hunt for meat, he "hunted for history".

My grandmother indicated on the SS application that she was born in Kansas (unknown site) 1880. Wouldn't that have her mother (Sara Pulse Stewart)be about 20-25 when she had my grandmother)? If that were the case, that would be about 1855-1860. I don't even know if she had any siblings - or for sure that her name was June!

Whatever - I do appreciate your taking the time to look and I shall keep my eyes open for potential solutions too and let you know. Again, many thanks. Oh - where would I see your tree? I use Family Tree Maker program and uploaded it to the World History I guess - I don't even know any more what goes where!
