I am Researching my family tree and I am as far back as William Punshon who married Mary Steadman at Hurworth near Darlington on 14th January 1806, William was a plasterer by trade and my tree follows his first son Thomas Punshon, of Chester-le-Street, born 6-May 1807, Thomas Punshon married Ann Thompson on 2nd May 1831 and Thomas was a Stone Mason as were most of my ancestors in that line. Thomas had a brother John who was also a Stone Mason and born born 21-Apr 1809. I am trying to find any siblings of Thomas and John also of their father William, who Williams parents were and when and where he was born and the line back from him, can anyone help?

Jane Ann Punshon was my great grandmother on my father's side.My parents often spoke of her with a great deal of respect. She was the family matriarch for many years up to 1938 following the accidental death in 1902 of her husband (my great grandfather) Henry Arnold. I have a deal of information about her, and of her relatives on the Punshon side, plus much else. Do you have any information about George Punshon's father William, who was a clock and watch maker?

My great grandmother's brother was George Frederick Punshon from Victoria ( originally London, England). He married Elizabeth Fox in England and they migrated in 1858 and had 5 children. I am willing to share information if this is who you are looking for? Regards, Sharon.

My great grandmother was Jane Ann Arnold (nee Punshon) born in about 1850 in Gateshead. She died in West Hartlepool in 1938. Her father was George Punshon born in Wylam, Northumberland in about 1810. Does anyone have any information about the earlier origins of the family or anything at all about her background?

Hi, Thanks for replying to my message. Yes there are quite a few Roberts, Williams and Thomas's. My Ralph I think came from Chester-le-street. He married Ursular Marley there before moving to Newcastle. I live in Sunderland. Let me know if there is anything you want looking up.
I have contacted Ken and also Dr. Heather Punshon. She has loads of Punshon info as well.

Hi, yes, I have all the IGI info + the vast majority of entries in the GRO Births, Marriages and Deaths (possibly missed a few due to missing or illegible fiche) + all 1881 Census info + a few 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 Census details + extensive info from family members.

Hi, I have been researching the Punshons in NE England for over 15 yrs, having visited there from the US in '87. Our immigrant Robt. Punshon, b.1777, Sunderland, son of a Thomas (b,1741 or 1747, d.1814 Sunderland) Punshon who marr. 1769 Chester le St. Elizabeth Allen (b.1751 Chester le St.; d 1828 ?Sunderland). There seems to be too many Roberts, Thomas', & Williams to track them well. I like to collect any info on the early Punshons from the area, & try to put them into families. You might like to contact a Ken Punshon, e-mail in 1997 <PUNSHON@mail.dec.com> (hope it's still good). He has hundreds of Punshon names in his file, including Ralph's, & had done a lot of work on the family.
