My great grandmother is Katarzyna Pupel. I do not know her parents' names yet but I am currently searching through the Chicago city guides and 1880 census records. Katarzyna was born on Nov. 8, 1869 in Poland. I think they emigrated in 1879 to Chicago. She married John Zbylski on June 13, 1882, in the St. Stanlislaus Kostka church in Chicago. Their marriage certificate mentioned her father but didn't list his name. Among her children were Stanley and Maryanna, similar to your Pupel family. Her children were: Joseph (1888, IL); Vince (1890, IL); Walter (1892, IL); John (1895, IL); Leo (1896, Chase, WI); Stanley (July 19, 1900, Chase, WI); Felix, my grandfather, (Nov. 29, 1902, Chase, WI); Maryanna (March 10, 1907); Polly (May 23, 1910, WA); and Waunda (1914, WA). John Zbylski died in 1908, and Katarzyna who we called Katie remarried Andrew Woda. Polly and Waunda were Katie's and Andrew's children.
In the 1879, 1880, and 1881 Chicago city guides Stanislaus Pupel shows up as living at 97 Front. This would have been in the 1880 census district 140, but this address seems to have been skipped. In 1882 Albert Pupel shows up at 97 Front, but Stanislaus Pupel shows up at 65 Elston Av in 1884, 1886, and 1888.
It sounds very likely that our Pupel families could be related. Please send me an email! (firstname.lastname@example.org
