PURCILLER IN TENNESSEE

My great grandfather was James C. Purciller, reported by relatives to have been born in Tennessee in August 1849. Does anyone have access to any early Tennessee census information that could show if there were in fact Purcillers in Tennessee before 1850? Any information would be helpful; I have no documented information before 1880, when he married in Texas
