Roy Pursell Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather Roy Pursell, 83 of Girard, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 12, 1924 in Erie, a
son of the late Roy C. and Gladys Keep Pursell.
He enlisted in the US Navy during WW II, where he served on the USS Ranger in the Pacific Fleet and the USS Hulburt near Alaska. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to the Erie area and worked for Talon Industries. He worked for General Electric for 15 years,
and later owned and operated Pursell's Service Station "in Girard.
Most recently he had been employed by Edinboro University as a Paint Foreman,
where he retired from in 1986. He attended the Girard Alliance Church and enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking and relaxing in the back yard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Pursell; and a son-in-law, John Kindle, in 2004. He is survived by
his wife, Audrey P.( Osterberg ) Pursell,"
whom he married February 23, 1952 in Edinboro;
also by two daughters, Linda L. Kindle of Acworth, Ga.,
and Karen Shaw and her husband, Michael, of Girard;
two sisters, Edna Mae Hale of Albion,
and Dolores Dana of Erie;
two brothers, Norman Pursell and his wife, Virginia, of Parachute, Colo.,
and Charles "Chuck" Pursell and his wife, Marge, of Fairview;
four grandchildren, Michelle Tong,
Rebekah Wolcott, Naomi McKenzie and her husband, Ken,
and Timothy Kindle and his wife, Misty;
two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Westfall
and Sarah Shaw;
an Aunt, Mary Henneous, of Erie;
eight great-grandchildren;
and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Today from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St., East, Girard. Rev. Clyde Davis, Pastor of the Girard Alliance Church, will officiate. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Ste. 244, Erie, PA 16501. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery with full military honors.
