Purselley

My connection to the Purselleys is through Margaret Purselley b 1826 Roane Co., TN, married William Matlock
1844 in Roane Co and died 1893 in Hood Co. I have some Hood County Purselleys, but I really cannot pinpoint Margaret's parents. May be James Pursley and Sarah Brandon, but I don't really have any information on them.
Re: Purselley

Linda - I am actually researching Purciller, but cannot document anything before 1875, so I am wondering if this name is a corruption of a similary name. My James C. Purciller was reported by 2 of his children to have been born in Memphis, TN in 1849. He told his children he was in the Civil War, 3rd Alabama Cavalry - no records found under Purciller. He married and had a son in OK (Indian Territory) in 1875 as Purciller and from there, I have him. Does any of this earlier information coincide with any of your Purselley family in Tennessee? Thanks.

Linda-- I have been looking for any researching this family. I believe that we may have a connection. I am researching my mothers father's family. The Purselley side was very hard. But what I do have is this. Jessee M. Purselley b.09/23/1845 in Roane County, Tn. d. 02/28/1896 Carrollton, Carroll, Arkansas. Married Sarah E. Wann b. 06/29/1848 Bradley County, Tn. d. 07/23/1912 Denver, Carroll, Arkansas. They had 3 children Mary J., Luther L., Isarih D. which is my ggrandmother. I also found a posting stating that William and Mary Jane Matlock married 04/19/1842 in Roane County and then moved to Bradley and they had 10 children. Thomas B., Jesse M., Phame E., Margaret, James C., John M., William J., Christopher C., Sarah Elizabeth, Mary C. Isarih married Leander Green Ayers b. 12/28/1873 they lived in Denver, Carroll, Arkansas. They had 3 boys, Lillard, Everett, and Clifford Cecil b 05/16/1913. She had left Leander for Dr. Charles T. Price. Through the grape vine I was told that she had more children and was buried at Lone Point Cemetery. I believe that is the right cemetery. The 3 boys stayed with Leander and so her son Clifford was very young when she left and never knew her. I hope these names make a connection with you.
Fay Hand
