Surnames: Purves, Wood, Jolly, McCowan
My gggrandfather, George Wood (1856-1932), immigrated to Missouri around 1884 since the Old Scotch Land Company was located in Neosho at the time. His sister Janet (Jessie) Alison Wood and her husband James Jolly lived with him. Other brother Robert stayed in New York area while brother Charles Stuart Wood died after 1948 in Indianapolis area. George's future wife, Maggie (?McCowan)1858-1934 came to join George on July 13, 1887 and married on July 15. George was 1 of 15 children born to William Wood(1826-1908) and Janet Fair(~1824-after 1903 before 1908)in the Cranshaws area. William's parents were Andrew Wood(1775-1861) and Elizabeth Purves(1798/9-~1889). I am interested in finding more about the family that stayed in Scotland. I know William and Janet moved to the Lauder area where they died. One of their twin daughters Elizabeth Wood never married and owned a livery stable in the Lauder area. Also staying in Scotland was other twin Mary (WOOD) Parker, David Cranston Wood and James (Jim). Also believe son Fleming Fair Wood remained in Scotland. Son Thomas married a girl named Agnes and lived in Scotland before moving around 1912 to Ontario. Elizabeth (Purves) Wood is in the 1881 census living with her daughter Margaret in Westruther. Any connections out there?
