Eddie Purviance September 2, 1949 - January 9, 2009
Eddie Purviance, 59, passed away at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs, Wyo., on Jan. 9, 2009, at 7:57 p.m. He passed away following a brief illness.
Following cremation a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk Street in Rock Springs. Pastors Arlen Hughes and Tony Truijillo will conduct the services. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
A dinner will be held following services at the Rock Springs Worship Center, 545 North Front St. in Rock Springs.
He was born Sept. 2, 1949, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to the late Marquis and Elda Lavern Waechter Purviance.
Mr. Purviance attended schools in Morrill, Neb., and graduated from Morrill High School with the class of 1968.
In 1969 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until Feb. 6, 1971, during the Vietnam War.
He married Thelma Diane Hennessey on Oct. 7, 1970, in Green River, Wyoming. They had one daughter, Melissa.
Eddie Purviance worked for School District No. 1 as a maintenance man for 38 years.
Mr. Purviance loved his family, and goose and duck hunting with his sons, brothers and grandson. He collected guns, coins, Duck Unlimited memorabilia and enjoyed working with his hands. His happiest moments were spent with his wife, family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Diane “Dee Dee,” he is survived by one daughter, Melissa Moon and one son-in-law Bryan of Rock Springs and their children Marcus and Mikayla Moon of Rock Springs and Edward Thomas Miller and son Talon and Shalonda Miller, all of Rock Springs, and brother-in-law Tom Jankowski and wife Dena; three brothers, Larry “Butch” Purviance and wife Jean, Dale Purviance and Terry “Mack” Purviance; three sisters, Lavern Peters and husband Hines, Virginia Radford and husband Reo of Torrington, and JoAnn Kurtz and husband Harlon; one brother-in-law, John Lewis; and three generations of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Naomi R. Jankowski, and father-in-law, Robert Hennessey; his sister-in-law, Victoria J. Lewis; one son, Marcus Edward Purviance; one aunt, Lena; two brothers, Jerry and Gary Purviance; one sister, Beverly; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
