Classification: Marriage
Surnames: Peterbaugh (Puterbough, Peuterbough), Burke, Quantz
I have been reading all the messages on the Peterbaugh messageboards. My great-grandmother was Margaret (Ann?) Peterbaugh--have seen various spellings. She was born 25 07 1859 in Maple (Vaughan), Ontario the daughter of Joseph and Mary Peterbaugh. She married Robert Henry Burke (born 01 05 1858) on 24 12 1879. They had five children: Madeline, Percy, Robert (my grandfather), Harold, and Howard. Unfortunately, only my grandfather married and had children. My mother could tell me little of the family but two things I do remember. She said that great-grandmother Margaret's family was Pennsylvania Dutch. Searching the records for Joseph Peterbaugh, I have found one that seems to fit according to the 1851 Canada West Census noting that he gave his birthplace as the U. S. My mother also said that she remembered during the Depression that there was a 'cousin' who was a farmer who brought vegetables to my mother's family to help out. Also, there were some cousins named 'Quantz'--I have tried to find connections through the Peterbough line but can't verify any there.
