Surnames: Pybas, Pybus, Blair
Hello,
I have been working on trying to find something about a Pybus family which are close matches at 67 markers to my brother's DNA. The oldest ancestor they know is a John Kerr Pybus, who lived, married, and died in Gorham Twp., Ontario, NY. His wife was Estella Cody. The interesting thing I found was that another close match was a man with the surname "Lamm", which was originally spelled "Lamb", and which was in Duplin County, NC. I believe these folks were connected to your Henry (died 1786 I believe) and Mary Pybas of Jones County, NC. I saw that there is a descendent of Henry and Mary named "James Blair Pybas". Blair is my father's surname. I believe your Henry Pybas connects back to the Pybus family in New York I mentioned earlier. Not specifically, John Kerr Pybus, but his earlier ancestors. I believe the Pybus family goes back to the early Puritan settlers of Massachusetts. Do you know where the Blair middle name came from? So basically, I am saying that you need to look farther up the east coast for possible ancestors of your Henry.
