DOES THIS BIBLE STILL EXIST? ANYONE KNOW?
Ruth Ravenscroft in her work "Family of Piatt-Pyatt-Pyeatte-Pyeatt with Allied Names, 1958" makes reference to a family Bible once in the possession of Martha J. Pyeatt, 1824-1913, daughter of Henry Porter Pyeatt and wife of Samuel Blake, 1818-1878. The Bible was published by Charles Gaylord in 1832.
When compiling her work, the Bible was in the possession of Mrs. Reba Pyeatt Harris (Reba Emily Pyeatt, 1885-1959, dau. of George Fisk Pyeatt)of Morrow, Washington County, AR.

If possible, I too would appreciate a copy of Williams gravestone. May wife and I just visited Washington County, AR in June - but there was not enough time to visit the Bethlehem Cemetery. I would like to share research - my information on Williams family is sketchy. I did however obtain a copy of his marriage record while in Fayetteville.
Keith Pyeatt
My eMail: k_pyeatt@yahoo.com
The Rudds you mention are all close relatives in my Pyeatt line. The two Rudd brothers, Omer and Emory, married my grandfather Irving Pyeatt's sisters, Ollie and Novie. Three of the other Pyeatt sisters married three Akers brothers from Oklahoma so the family has double and triple Rudd and Akers cousins. Omer Rudd married Ollie Pyeatt and Emory Rudd married Novie Pyeatt. Meveric Rudd was Novie Pyeatt's son and Imogene Rudd her daughter. Meveric Rudd married Wanda Underwood and Beverly Rudd is their daughter. I have some data on Omer and Emory's parents but will have to dig it up, but I know they are buried somewhere in Wise County. Beverly is married (2nd), has two daughters and grandkids, and lives near Fort Worth.

Let me know if you need any more details about them and I will check with Beverly for you.

Sorry I dont have any pictures. Henry Porter Pyeatt and his brother John Rankin Pyeatt joined the Forty-niners in the quest for gold in California. Henry Porter drowned in 1850 attempting to run the rapids on the American River. Their party had discovered gold in the bed of the river and dug a ditch and was building a dam to clear the river bed. They were in need of a boat and had constructed several in the mountains above the river, but none of them made it through the rapids undamaged. Henry Porter attempted to guide the boat through the rapids, but was drowned. His body was never found. His wife was Scye Icyphena Carnahan. I have some information on their kids but not much more.

What other information do you have on Douthitt?? I have a relative from the other side of the family who lived in San Antonio who's name was Douthitt Melugin McKay. It would be funny if I am related on both sides.

Cane Hill & Fayetteville, Arkansas

I have planned a trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas in March 2007 to research my grandmother's family--John Thomas Williams & Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cabe. Her parents were Thomas Jefferson Cabe & Margaret Pyeatt. Both Williams & Cabes lived in the areas of Cane Hill & Fayetteville. TJ Cabe was an elderly soldier who entered the War Between the States, despite being told that he was "too old." Williams father was John Siddell Williams. His spouse was Charity Davis. It is my understanding that there is considerable documentation of the 1860--1890 period in histories of early settlers of NW Arkansas & in histories of the Civil War & later era. And, that my relatives are included. Where do I start & what is a good central location to stay for a week? Who do I need to meet for assistance? Please help!

I have been researching the Cabe families in Washington Co. AR for several years. The Thomas Jefferson Cabe (b. ca. 1798 NC)seems to have been the first Cabe in Washington Co.
In 1844, John Cabe (b. 1799 NC) and Sarah (b. 1802 GA) moved from TN to AR. With them was Millie Anne Cabe Burrow and her husband Solomon Burrow. In 1849, John S. Cabe (b. 1819 TN) and wife Mary Louise Biffle Cabe moved to Washington Co., AR. Also came Nancy Delitha Cabe Fallin and her husband Robert Redmond Fallin. I have come to believe (but not proved) that John S. Cabe and Nancy Delitha Cabe Fallin are siblings as well as Theodocia Cabe Tyner, Mary Cabe Hunton, and Nellie Cabe (not married).
Your Thomas Jefferson Cabe was living with his daughter, Elizabeth Cabe Williams near Seneca, MO when he died. He is buried in a Swars Prairie Cemetery near Seneca.
I'm sorry to say that I have never connected Thomas Jefferson Cabe (b. 1798 NC), John Cabe (b. 1799 NC) and John S. Cabe (b.1819TN).

He's the right guy. His two oldest girls married into the West family while still in Montague County, but both died in Oklahoma.

My great grandfater, grandfather, and father all lived just south of Jesse in northwest Wise County at the Red Bud community. I have Jesse in Montague county after 1880 with 8 kids but nothing after 1900. I have tried to find his burial site in Montague county but no luck and now I know why. My dad knew of a family member's grave somewhere in Montague County but he wasn't able to describe a location for me before he died. He believed it was one of Jesse's family members but wasn't sure who.

I show Jesse descended from James and Catherine through Peter Paulus. Is that correct?

I don't have exact dates for when my line moved from Prarie Grove to Wise County but it was after 1905 and before 1910. My great grandfather had a brother in Decatur sometime before 1900 and the stories I have heard say that the brother influenced the decision to move there from around the Dublin area. BTW, the old family farm at Red Bud is still in family hands.

Do you know of any other Pyeatts that lived in Montague County and do you know of any Rudds in your line?

Kind of, my Jesse Pyeatt was born in Washington County, Arkansas, moved to Hot Spring County between 1870 and 1880. Shortly after 1880 he moved to Montegue County, Texas, where his youngest daughter, Mattie Leona was born. By 1900 he was in what is now Oklahoma. He died there in 1916.

Mattie Leona married Carrol Andrew Thomas about 1896 and moved to Texas about 1898 and then back to Oklahoma around 1907.

Dear Wanda or whom this may concern: I'm 26 years old & have been actively searching for 3 of my Aunts. My father, Vernon Eugene Pyeatt, passed away in 1986 & my mother kept no contact with his family. I recently came upon a family tree that dates back to the early 1700's. I have been unsuccessful in my search so far, but it has not stopped me. I read your posting and looked up some of the names. I did find one of the names you posted in my family history, however, the name is exact and the dates are different. I found "Mary Elizabeth Pyeatt Born: Feburary 15, 1861 in Washington County Arkansas. ." I wanted to share a little of my info with you to see if anything else may be similar. She married Shadrach Nelson West on March 4, 1882. She died on November 30, 1924 in Lawton Oaklahoma. If any of this does match, please let me know. I'd like to be 100% sure if this is part of my family. Being that I am experiencing the difficulty of searching for family members, I wouldnt wish to delay anyone else in their search. If any of the info is the same, please let me know. OR IF ANYONE ELSE HAS PYEATT FAMILY INFO OR KNOWS : WANDA C PYEATT(last known name is WANDA C YORK); ATHENA LORENE PYEATT ( last known name: LORENE PYEATT or LORENE LONG); & MILLIE DARLENE PYEATT( last known name: DARLENE PYEATT) PLEASE CONTACT ME at dolphynspyrit@comcast.net

Thank you for the information. I have just read some material from the WASHINGTON COUNTY HISTORY, an excellent book published by the Shiloh Museum, Springdale Arkansas. (obtained through interlibrary loan). Pyeatt's and Carnahan's are included in the history and three Cabe's. The Cabe's are Dora, Nancy D. and Robert, no Thomas Jefferson Cabe or Jefferson Cobe (my maternal great great grandfather). Somewhere in this huge book was a reference to a written history of the Pyeatt's and Carnahan's. Do you know where I could get a copy of that book or at least a loan for a while?

I do know about Martha Carnahan, born about 1792 in NC. Her life was interesting, but I don't know what happened to her after Husband #3.

Martha Carnahan married
1. John Pyeatt who died 1823 in Ark.
2. Andrew Pyeatt, his cousin, who died....
3. Thomas Jefferson Cabe. Cabe remarried in 1853, so Martha must have died ---but I can't find out info about her death.

She was a character--she had two children by each of her three husbands. Most of it was in Washington County, Ark.

In one of my GEDComms I d-loaded, there is a "second tree" that is not connected to any other part of my family tree. I sound it goes to a John Soloman PYEATT (m. Mattie Evelynn LACEWELL) in the Rio Vista, TX area. Does anyone know how this PYEATT is related to the Ark. PYEATT family(s).

I am going to make a leap of faith here, as I am totally out of this loop but interested in the FINLEY and PYEATT surnames, as I am desended from Jacob PYEATTE and Jane FINLEY (my 5th-great-grandparents)

This child must be the son of one of the two FINLEY sisters who married the two PYEATTE brothers. Whoses child is he?
BIBLE Andrew Maclure Pyeatt b. 11/12/1834

I am in the possesion of a Bible that no longer belongs to my family and I am trying to get it back into the right family. The Bible originally belonged to Andrew Maclure Pyeatt b. November 12, 1834 and Mary Vina (Birchett)Pyeatt b. March 16, 1845. My Nana passed away and she was the last birth in the bible. Her name was Mae Pyeatt b. December 10, 1906. She was my grandfather's second wife. Mae had no children so there is no blood connection to this bible on our side. The list of children in this bible is as follows:

1) William Joseph Pyeatt b. June 3, 1867
2) James Benton Pyeatt b. December 13, 1869
3) Marguerta Olive Pyeatt b. August 9, 1872
4) Mary Elizabeth Pyeatt b. June 22, 1875
5) Nettie Clifton Pyeatt b. March 9, 1879
6) Minnie May Pyeatt b. July 1, 1880
7) Walter Maclure Pyeatt b. July 21, 1883
8) Fannie Laurietta Pyeatt b. January 21, 1887

And last but not least is Mae Pyeatt b. December 10, 1906.
Mae was born out of wedlock and was raised by her grandparent's Andrew and Mary. I am not positive but think she is the daughter of Minnie May (#6 above).

I am willing to give this bible to the first person that can give direct lines from Andrew and Mary to yourself, for just the postage of sending it. Sincerely, WandaLena11@aol.com
I am looking for information on the children of Alvin Finley Pyeatt and Mary A Buchanan. I have the following children, William Burwell, Anna Myrtle, Cyrus A. and Micha Nora Pyeatt. I have that Anna Myrtle married Arthur Juhan, Cyrus A married Janie Belle Gwinn. I have their approximate dates of birth. But I have nothing on any of them after the 1880 Denton County Texas Federal Census. Can anyone help me with more information on these children of Alvin Pyeatt and Mary Buchanan? Thank you for your help.

I know this is late but..
The 1930 U.S. Census shows a Marjorie Pyeatt that was married to Rosco Pyeatt and they lived in Nevada.

The 1930 Census also shows a Marjorie Pyeatte that lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma married to George Pyeatte. The census indicates that Marjorie was married once before she married George Pyeatte. It indicates that they were married in 1926, when she was 27, but that the first time she was married she was 17. As of 1930 they had no children.

George P.Pyeatte was born September 24, 1894 in Arkansas and died October 1978 in Kansas. He was a Geologist. His parents were Henry Clay Pyeatt (b. 1841) and Elizabeth Inks (b. 1852). He had eleven siblings.

Cynthia,
Most of the Pyeatt family in Arkansas was located in Washington County, though a few in Pulaski County. Many in Cane Hill Township, Washington County. Do you know who Harriet's parents were, or sibblings? You may want to try searching for both Harriet and Ed Rowe on the 1880 census, which is now available on-line at "familysearch.org." You may need to mispell names to find them.

I am researching a Paul Alvin Pyeatt born in Texas 15 Aug 1898. His parents might have been Paul Alvin or Allen Pyeatt and Minnie Wood, both from Texas. Paul Alvin of 1898 moved to Tucson Arizona and then to Ventura Co., Oxnard, California and married to Alma Catherine Lynch. Paul Alvin Jr. was born 6 March 1932 in Tucson AZ. With the Paulus and Alvin in the names I think there might be a connection.
Any info is appreciated.

(names and ages are on back) Message is to my great-grandfather Thomas Anthony Houston. Seems to have been taken in 1891. Does anyone have a connection to these Pyeatt's? Do you know any connection to the Houston's? Houstons were in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Would like to coorespond. Thanks.
PYEATT or PYETTE, MARGARET or MARGARRET

Looking for information on Margaret Pyeatt, b. Dec. 12, 1807 and married Thomas Jefferson Cabe, b. April 11, 1793 on board ship to America from Ireland. Don't know where or when they married. Among their children was Elizabeth "Lizzie" CABE who was my maternal great grandmother. The Pyeatt's and Cabes were in Ky., Arkansas, and Missouri. I believe that the Pyeatt's may have Indian blood as Lizzie Cabe's nationality on census was listed as Irish and Indian.
