Hi,
I have been fascinated by the Pyrah name and would love to know more about these nonconformist Catholic Pyes you speak of. My folks came over to the Maryland coal fields, and around the horn to Oregon in 1870s. I am:

Joshua Pyrah & Sarah Beaumont
Sarah Pyrah & Mark Stubley
David Stubley & Nancy Colbeck
Nancy Stubley & Agraham Roberts
Benjamin Roberts & Mary Ann Thomas
Emma Roberts & Charles C. Liggett
Elsie M. Liggett & Matthew J. Stonelake
Betty J. Stonelake & Francis E. Jackson
Gale Frances Jackson

The first three generations stayed around Batley & Dewsbury, Yorkshire. Nancy and Abraham came to the US around 1865, and their son married a daughter of a Welsh miner and brought his family to Oregon by ship.
Thank you for the earlier explanation regarding the Pyes. That's intriguing.

Sincerely,
Gale Ronning
Westlake, Oregon

ps. We love England; been only once, but dream of returning.
