Carroll & Choctaw Cos., MS Pyron Families

I would like to correspond with anyone who has interest in the above Pyron family structures, namely those of Richard Pyron born 1780-1790 and those persons associated as his "family", i.e. Allen, Levi, Michael. The family is enumerated in the parts of Carroll and Choctaw Counties from 1840 to 1860 in what is present Montgomery County, MS.

My recent interest is in locating descendants of John (?-A.) Pyron (b. 1841) who supposedly married Sarah Dunn in the late 1860's in Choctaw County. John seems to be the same person of name noted in Michael's home in the 1850 census. Also, I'm a descendant of Martha Pyron (b. 1818) who married Elijah Stephens in Lowndes County, MS in 1836, and would like to "figure" out her place in the structures.

There seems to be little substantial documentation on how these folks are related, I've ran across lineages that relate Richard as the father for the entire group and others that give he and Allen, etc. as brothers. My limited research hasn't included or eliminated either! Here's a summary, in chronological order:

1) Richard - born 1780-1790. Apparently married Zillia Groves and seems to be the father of Eli (1831), Olive (1832), Andrew Jackson (1834), Jefferson (1836), Sarah (1838), Frances (1840), Margaret (1842), Louisa (1845), Arabella (1847), and Mary E. (1849). After Zilla's death, Richard seems to have married Mrs. Mary Love.

2) Allen - born unknown apparent circa 1800. Married Eve Swath and was the potential father of John (1822), Albert (1826), Louisa Jane (1834) and Robert A. (1835). Is he the same as the A. M. Pyron noted in the 1840 Carroll census with 2 males ages 20 to 30?

3) Levi - born 1810-20 (if he is the eldest male noted in this household in 1840). This name not located on any further census indexes. The home in 1840 included several small children (2 males and 2 females less than 15) and the eldest female was noted as age 40 to 50, suggesting a "mother" candidate if the age bracket is correct. Is Mary D. "Pyrant"'s home in 1850 Choctaw a remnant of his family, Mary residing next door to Elijah and Martha (Pyron) Stephens.

4) Michael - born 1817 TN and married Tabitha Taylor in 1839 in Carroll County. He was recorded in 1840 Carroll residing near to Richard, Levi, and Elijah Stephens. Located in 1850 but not found in further records (Is he "hidden" in the census records under some greatly corrupted surname spelling?). Buried at Sarepta Cemetery in Webster County, MS. Father of a large family of children, several whose descendants are well known.

5) Martha Pyron - born 1818 TN, married Elijah Stephens in 1836 in Lowndes County, MS. Elijah enumerated in 1840 residing very close to Richard, Levi, and Michael Pyron. In 1850 the family is enumerated in Choctaw County and residing near to the family of Mary Pyrant and Elias Pyrant.

6) Mary (-?-) Pyron - born 1804 SC. Enumerated 1850 Choctaw County residing next door to Martha (Pyron) Stephens and just a few homes from Elias Pyron. Who was her husband, what happened to this family, can't seem to locate any members past this census year. Is she a potential widow for Levi of the 1840 record.

7) Elias - born about 1824 (reported as MS on 1850 census) resided very near to #'s 5 and 6 above.

8) Several others: a) Nancy Pyron who married Benjamin Pittman 1849, b) Mary C. Pyron who married Benjamin West 1848, c) Louisa Jane Pyron who married Newitt Pittman in 1851 (prob Allen and Eve's daughter) and d) Who is the J. A. Pyron who married Laura Harvey in 1872. All marriages in Carroll County.

Again, would really appreciate any leads on Michael and Tabitha's son John's family (John born about 1841-44), where in Texas did some of this line relocate to, etc., and anyone who is interested in helping to piece the structures together!!

Thanks,

Jim Chesteen
