I'm wondering if maybe I have a connection with you guys. My father is a Klapatch and I knew him a little bit up until i was 5 so my knowledge right now is very limited but I have found out that his parents are Joseph & Mickey (nee Anderson) Klapatch of outside Scranton, PA. I believe Joseph's father's name is Stephen. But that's all I know! If you have any connections, please let me know!

Pysh family tree and information

I have been gathering extensive information about my grandfather, Wasyl Pysh, was born in Galicia near Boryslav on Christmas Eve in 1896, and his descendents.

So far we have gathered an extensive family tree with hundreds of relatives (by blood and by marriage). Surnames in our tree include Pysh, Fialla, Suzanska (Sosanska), Makar, Kruljac, McShea, McVeigh, Plaskon, Tinsley, Wassilchak, Jackievich, Shebish, Sgroi, and many more.

In the United States, the Pysh family is primarily in Carnegie, PA, and the surrounding area... although different branches have (of course) scattered far and wide.

We have immigration documents, family photos dating back to the 1800's, and all kinds of stories.

If you are a Pysh or are related, you MAY be related to us. Contact me to find out more and we can try to figure it out!

--Greg Stevens
(Grandson of Wasyl Pysh and Anna Makar, great-grandson of Anna Suzanska, Alex Makar, Daniel Pysh... and his wife.)

The photos are great. They are a little blurry (which is expected) but they're wonderful. Is there any chance that you might have the orginals? If you do, can I pay for duplicating them? I'd love to have them for Rob's family photos. The photo of Tatiana, Steven and Anastasia is similar to one I got from Helen. I was really excited that you definitely identified the previously unidentified women. That makes it alot easier for us to know who they are from the other photos.

Just in case you have trouble getting my e-mail I sent yesterday, my address is as follows:

dobbins@syix.com.

Send me an e-mail to that address and I'll try to send you my mailing address.

Thanks again

Haven't received your e-mail yet but thought I would test to see if I can send you these. the first is a picture of Anna from 1939, then Helen, the third shows my Aunt Nettie, Sonia Pelak (?) [little girl] and her mother, Mary Pysh Pelak in the first row, my Aunt Pearl, Uncle Micky, Aunt Jay, my grandfather, Kyril Klapatch, and my Aunt Anne. All the aunts are Amelia & Alexay's nieces. Next picture is Peter with my mom, Eva, in front, then, Peter, my Uncle Ted and my Aunt Nettie (Anastasia), taken August 10, 1936. Last is my great Aunt Tatiana (Hutz) Merowski, who raised Helen and Anna, with Stephen Pysh and my grandmother, Anastastia (Hutz) Klapatch

I'll be happy to send what I have to you. I'm working my way through documentation, since most of this came from my mom's memory, and she was the baby of the family. This is fantastic for me as well, since I don't have much information on the Pysh branch of the family, compared to the others. If you'll send me your e-mail address, I'll be happy to forward the charts I put together. (You can reach me at joann.beck@lyondell.com). I also have a bunch of pictures from my aunt that I'll check and I can scan them in at home. I can understand why Helen said it was too depressing. I'll be happy to share the stories I've heard (but not in the general message board), and that might clear up some of the mystery JoAnn

This is fantastic! I had just about given up finding out anything about Alexsy Pysh and his family. My son is Alexsy and Amelia's great grandson through their daughter Anna who married Alfons Schneider. I married Anna and Alfons' son Allen. I have a set of two pictures of Alexsy and Anna that my son's great aunt Helen had (Helen was Anna's sister). I also have a few pictures of some unidentified people with the Pysh family present. If I sent you copies, could you see if you can give me some identifications? I would love it if you could also give me what you have on the Hutz family. I'm at a total lost on any more information except that Amelia (also called by Helen as Mildred), came to the states at age 15 in 1911. I also found a "Alexsy Pysh" married to an Eva (couldn't read her last name) in the Russian Orthodox Church records in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 1910 (the year Alexsy came to the states). I've been wondering if he had been married twice and that his first wife either died or divorced him. I also have a copy of Alexsy's naturalization papers. Anything I have I'd be happy to share. If you have any pictures you could share, I would be happy to pay for duplication. My son's dad and I have been divorced for over 25 years and so my son doesn't really know to much about his Dad's side of the family. Rob's Grandma Anna died before he was born, and his Grandpa Alfons died when he was 7 and so we were not able to find out too much about that side of the family. Rob's Great-Aunt Helen was one of those that "didn't like to talk about it." Kind of depressing. Thanks so much for responding to this inquiry. Got me excited all over again.

Debra, Alexay Pysh was my great uncle. His wife was Amelia Hutz, (born 1897, died 1931), my grandmother's (Anastasia Hutz Klapatch) sister They had 4 children, Mary, Anna, Stephen & Peter. According to my mother, he died in a mine accident. Amelia later took her own life. My grandmother raised the boys as part of her family. I have quite a bit of information on the Hutz' nothing much on the Pyshs, except this. I will be glad to share any information I have with you. Also, if you check WWI registration records for Luzerne Co, Pa, district 3, his registration card is there. I also have some information on the Merowskys, since my great aunt Tatiana married Peter Merowsky. JoAnn
