So keep looking and I have saved you information so if I find anything that connects I will get back with you soon.. Good luck
Barbara

Nancy, I hope you still have the information of the Treutelaar family.. Am i correct that this is family to Mrs Zarling married to a Raasch?? I hope so because I have not been able to get anything that I can verify that this is a part of the family.. I am excited about the information. Melvin Raasch( my hubby) is lookimg forward to the extended family he has never heard about. His parents were not social with the generations behind them except their parents. So we are going totally barefoot except what I have been able to get from various people.. We have connected so far and he has cousins all over the US and didn't know it... Thanks in advance for your help. Barbara

Raasch + Vulp in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I am looking for Henry Raasch and his wife Frieda (possibly went by Ida) nee Vulp. What information I have is scarce...

Frieda Vulp was born in 1877? in Pommern. one of five siblings. Her parents are August Wilhelm Ferdinand Julius Vulp and Wilhelmine Henriette Drewes. Frieda's sisters are Bertha Vulp (married Herman Wolfgram) and Emilie Maria Friederike Elsie Vulp (married Carl Kraemer). "Ida" is listed in the 1905 census living with her parents in Cedarburg at age 28. On December 6, 1946 she signed an affidavit of proof for her nephew to get a birth certificate. That affidavit listed her address as 3292 No 7th Street in Milwaukee. Her nephew is Edmund Gustav Kraemer. Frieda's siblings and parents lived in the Cedarburg area in Ozaukee County.

I am looking for Frieda and Henry's birth, marrriage, and death dates. I am interested in finding Henry's parents and would love to find any descendants of the couple if there are any. I would also like to find the names of the other two Vulp siblings. Feel free to email or post comments and questions.

Thanks,
Jessica

Barbara, I read with interest your posting your family in Farnam. In my files I know I have something about the Raasch name. Will look for it if you are interested. Do you have an obituary for Lawrence Wallace Raasch that could be posted to the site listed below?

I have lived in Farnam 3 score and ten and am currently doing research of the lives of the early settlers in Farnam and area in anticipation of writing a book ..."What happened after they left". Have been gleaning the early printings of the local newspaper, The Farnam Echo searching for ads, obituaries, births, moves and etc., for each family.

Any information or STORIES that you would like to share with me would be much appreciated for my research. Also are there any pictures of the original family here in Farnam or photos of the village buildings or surrounding area?

Have you checked out this website...<http://www.wjh.us>? You can find a reproduction of the 1936 50th anniversary paper there plus cemetery burials, obituaries, and more. There is to be a change soon in the format with more pictures of the area and stories added.

There is a 1981 Farnam History book available in print and it will soon be on the web site scanned in from the proofs when printed.

If I can be of any help please let me know,
Thank you,
Betty

I am trying to put together some of the Schlotfeldt family. Willie was a brother to my husband's grandmother Augusta Schlotfeldt Raasch. I would like to know more about them, I have no direction to go. Most all of those who could give me the information have passed on and I was never acquainted with any of them except Flitcie (sp) Schlotfeldt. Her husband was Willie. I have met and visited with their daughter Verla Shinker in Colorado, but she has failed so badley she isn't able to help anymore. If this is your line I would appreciate any help you could give me or a direction for me to research. Thanks in advance, any help at all is most appreciated... Barbara Raasch... I don't exactly remember where the connection is except I do believe she said he is her sister's son. Correct me if I am wrong, I am just trying to get that side of the family correct..

Yes, Ida is my 2nd great. Johann (John) Gottlieb Raasch came in June 1853 through New York (according to his Letter of Intent). His son Carl (Charles) immigrated earlier (1850 - 1852) and lived in Dodge Co before moving to the Shawano area. Johann lived with Charles and his family on all census, including, I think, the 1855 state census in Lebanon, Dodge Co. (there is 1 extra male).

Johann's gravestone at Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano says b. 18 May 1799 and d. 23 Jun 1884. He's on the same stone (on the side) of Charles' wife, Minna Rosa (Klebesadel).

The German baptisms came up by chance, when looking for a different family, so there may be others siblings of Charles at Batzwitz. The records will have to be looked at again.

What is the best way to send you images?
I have Johann Gottlieb Raasch's gravestone image. Also I have the baptism record for Karl (Carl, Charles) and 2 sisters, Caroline Maria Charlotte Raasch, b. 5 Dec 1831, and Hannah Friederike Raasch, b. 19 Mar 1834. All three in Batzwitz, Greifenburg, Pommern. Their mother was Dorothea Koltermann (sp?).

Caroline may have married Carl Stern (transcribed Earl Sheve in "FIRST ONE HUNDRED MARRIAGES IN SHAWANO COUNTY". This is not confirmed yet.
