Indiana Marriage Index to Edward Harmon December 4, 1895 Book C-4, page 457.

1900 census Brown Township, Morgan County, Indiana lists Lillian born August 1874, age 25, married 4 years, has had 1 child - 1 child still living.

Rulief's birth record 1901 lists Lillian as born in Morgan County, Indiana.

Have photo of Edward, Lillian, Maurice and Rulief from this time period.

1910 census Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana lists Lillian age 35, living with husband, Edward and sons Maurice age 13 and Rulief age 9 and Sarah Rayborn age 80 aunt. I believe Sarah may actually be Sarah Raber who would be the aunt of Lillian not Edward.

1920 census Clay Township, Morgan County, Indiana lists Lillian age 40 born Indiana.

1930 census Madison Township, Morgan County, Indiana lists Lillian age 50 born Indiana

During the late 1950s Lillian was living with her son, Rulief, and his wife, Lela, and Lela's mother, Anna (Fields) Wilcoxon. She celebrated holidays at the home of Richard and Vivian Ford. Vivian is the sister of Lela. Have photos of her from this time period.

The only Catherine Leibole I know of that lived of that would fit this discription is Catherine Richards Leibole but never lived in Indiana. Ernest Isaac Leibole lived in Indiana but i dont have a record of a daughter named Catherine.

It's always nice to meet a RABER! I don't believe we're related though. The majority of my family are from Miami County, Indiana. However, I do have family connections in Anderson using the same surname. If you haven't been to Fort Wayne, I suggest you go. Second best geneaology library in the nation. He married Catherine RABER who was the daughter of Grant RABER and Sarah (?) born about 1895 in Pennsylvania, usa.

I think Charles' parents were Peter and Hattie.

My great granfather changed his last name from Raber to Raver because that was the only way he could collect his Civil War pension.He was born in Ohio and moved to Indiana.
Maybe Joseph had a simular thing happen.

I am looking for information regarding the husband of Josephine Ellena "Lena" Raber (such as parents, etc).

Josephine Raber (b. 1884 in Marion County, WV and died 1974 in Marshall County WV) is the daughter of Albert G. Raber and Nancy Ann Davis.

Josephine married George Donley Murphy. He was born on April 3. He varied his birth year on various documents including 1884 and 1886. His headstone reads yet another year - 1882.

According to census readings, he was born in Pennsylvania. According to his draft registrations, he indicates that he was born in New Freeport, Greene County, PA.

George & Josephine had at least four daughters while they lived in McMechen, Marshall Co., West Virginia:

Elizabeth "Bess" (married Charles W. Oser)
Midred H. (married Joseph F. Sabo)

A History of the Christian Raber Family *

A new, 215 page, book entitled, "A History of the Christian Raber Family: Featuring Six Generations", is now available, for $25 which includes postage and handling. This book traces the Raber roots to Switzerland, Alsace, Germany, and immigrant Christian Raber's arrival in Ohio and Iowa. (Christian was an Amish preacher and a brother to Jacob Raber, of Ohio). The descendents of Christian, were Daniel, D.B. and Frank.
This book focuses more on the Raber family "story" than on the genealogy per se.

I have Albert Raber b. Apr 18, 1857and Nancy Ann Davis b. Feb 8, 1864 as the parents of Josephine, Alexander, John E, Elizabeth, Thomas, Florence B, Ephriam, Charles.

Albert is the s/o John Wesley Raber and Rachel Bell Toothman. John Wesley is a brother to my William Raber who married Cassander Fluharty.

Sorry, but I believe there is no connection between my research of the Raber surname and the person your daughter married. I have been researching my family for about 7 yrs now and have found no link in Iowa. Good luck on your research

hi, raber is the name of the young man my daughter just married, i noticed a name close to my lineage, eversman. my grandmother was an eversman and married a weghorst, in iowa, they then moved to illinois. the eversman family has a long history in iowa.???

Raber is the surname of the young man my daughter just married. I am busily tracing my lineage, and just looking at his. My grandmothers last name was Eversman-in Iowa, she had to have been born around 1900, did not leave until 1919 she married John CArl Weghorst and moved to Quincy, Ill. ??

Susan, If you are still looking for Joseph Raber, he was the son of Joseph and grandson of Ira and Harriett Rinehart (sp) Raber.Ira was son of Benjamin and Sarah (?) Raber from Pa.the oldest of 12 (b ca 1831), John, the youngest (b 1855) was our family member. Benjamins parents were George and Elizabeth(?) REBER. I think you can find info about them on the Net. Am interested in knowing if the Phillip you mentioned lived in Gosport, IN. The Phillip I'm looking for was a builder/carpenter and had five or six daughters. One was Lillian who married first JV Beeler, who died soon after the marriage. Lillian then married Edward Harmon and had sons Rulief and Maurice.

William Raber was born September 6, 1837 in Lebanon co. PA. He married Catharine Myers October 10, 1857 in Berks co. PA, daughter of Moses Myers and Maria Grove. William died October 17, 1914 in Wells county and Cathatrine died the same day because William turned the gas up in their apartment and doing so killing himself and Catharine.

William's parents were Joseph Raver and Elizabeth Decker.
Joseph's parents were John Reber and Margeret ?.
John Rebers parents were Johannes Reber and Catharine Schmitt.
Johannes Rebers parents were Johann L. Reber and Anna Klein.
Johann L. Reber came from Germany and I think his father is Philip Rebeur from Prussia who was tutor of Frederick William the 1st.

I am a descendent of John Raber, Williams brother.

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Cyrus Raber 12-15-1884”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo is typical of 1884 photos, and was taken in Chicago, IL. Cyrus looks to be about age 28-30.

I found Cyrus in the 1900 census for Aurora (Kane Co.) IL, born IL with DOB Oct 1855. He was a life insurance agent, with wife Mattie. In 1910 and 1920, he lived in Chicago, still a life ins. agent.

Joseph Raber was born in Union township, Miami Co., IN, 10-02-1850, departed this life 01-21-1911, aged 60 yrs, 3 mo's and 19 days. On 03-23-1879, he united with the Luthern church at Mt. Zion. During the same year, 11-27-1879, he was united in marriage to Sarah Marburger, to this union were born three daughters who with their mother, five grandchildren, and three brothers, Jonothan, of Newton, KS, Benjamin of ARK, and Daniel Raber of Peru, IN, with a host of other relatives and friends remain to mourn the departure of a kind and affectionate husband, a loving father a true brother and an admired friend and neighbor. Funeral services were conducted at the family residence, 262 N. Grant St., Peru, IN, by the Rev. Kessinger, of the United Brethren church. Interment in Oak Grove cemetery.

Blanche lived as a "ward" with the Alexander Toothman family in Lincoln WV for a short time. The other children are listed as living with their cousin, CHRISTOPHER RABER in Mannington WV.

Later the younger siblings lived with the elder siblings in McMechen WV.

Looking to receive any futher info on these children and hopefully who their parents were.

Karen Elizabeth RABER died Dec. 1, 2005, of ovarian cancer at age 61.

Karen TIESZEN was born June 19, 1944, in Ogden, Utah. She was a system support specialist for the state of Oregon who lived in the Portland area for 12 years, currently in Mulino.

Survivors include her sons, James and Brandon; sister, Katherine TIESZEN; brothers, Marc TIESZEN, and Sheldon TIESZEN; companion, William FEELER, and one grandchild.

Remembrances to the Audubon Society. Arrangements by Omega.
