Hello Linda,
Don't know if you are still looking, but I have some information. My Mom was married to a George Racicot I am pretty sure (I mean about the George part). Also, when my Mom passed away, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Racicot attended my Mom's wake. I am guessing that these folks were George's parents. Can't think of why else they would be there. By the way, we lived in Chicopee.

Eager to share notes.
Regards,
Charles

Racicot Family Related to Rascoe / Roscoe?

I'm researching my Rascoe family, and I'd like to know whether it is related to Racicot families in France, Canada and Britain. Does anyone know of any connections? Are the two families genetically related?

I'd also like to know what is the origin or derivation of the name Racicot.

Some Rascoes came in very early times from a source in Bosnia. Has anyone heard of any Bosnian Raskos or Roskos or Rascoviches who are related to French or Canadian Rascicots, or any indication of a Bosnian connection?

I have found quite a few Cathy Racicot's out there! My Dad's name was Robert E. Racicot, his father's name was Clive Racicot from Montreal. Unfortunately I don't know much about grandfather other than that. Could we be related? Cathy

Re: Jacques Racicot

I think you are in the same family, but I can't link up either. My husband's ancestor Charles Racicot, b. 1823 in St. Philippe, Quebec, was married to Adelaide Robidoux. in the 1861 census of LaPrairie, QC, listed with Charles' family is a Jacques Racicot, age 72, born in Boucherville, married. Beneath him is, I assume, his wife,Listed as:
Racicot (Lalumiere), D?lis age ?0, born in Varennes. I think this D?lis may actually be Julie Petit dit Lalumiere, but I have no proof. I kind of assume this Jacques is the father of Charles, but again, I have no proof. I believe this Jacques also had a father Jacques, married to Cecile Normandin. There is an IGI record of a Jacques Racicot married to a Dulisse Petit, Jan 26, 1836, Varennes, Vercheres, Quebec. Again, is this Dulisse the same as Julia? There's a Jacques Racicot b. abt. 1791 who married a Sophie Dubois on Oct 21, 1816 and they had a child Louis Racicot, b. about 1830, St. Constant. This Jacques appears to be the son of Jacques Racicot and Cecile Normandin. Is it the same Jacques who was married twice? Is there anyone out there who can straighten me out on this?

Hi Connie,
I saw your email about the Roscoe/Racicot family, and hope maybe you have some information I need. I noticed you mention Joseph Rousseau in connection with St. Martin. I have a Joseph Rousseau who first married Marguerite Lacombe , whose parents were Jean Francois Raymond Lacombe and Marie Charlotte Balthazar dite St-Martin. Joseph & Marguerite were married 25 Oct 1830 in Ste-Marie-de-Mannoir, Rouville, Quebec. She died before 24 May 1836 and he remarried 24 May 1836 at St-Mathias Rouville, to Louise Racicot, daughter of Etienne Racicot and Marie-Louise Bouchard. Do any of these fit in your family tree?

According to my data, the parents of Léocadie Racicot were indeed Joseph Racicot and Marie-Louise Caillé.
Joseph was born April 29, 1821 in Montebello, Papineau, Québec, Canada. He married Marie-Louise Caillé, June 18 1839, Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours, Montebello, Papineau, Québec, Canada. Her parents were Jean-Baptiste Cayer and Marie-Louise Legault. Unfortunately, I do not have any dates for Marie-Louise Caillé but I do have 15 children (including Léocadie) fof this couple. I have birth dates and places for 9 of them and some death dates.

The only details I have re AMBROISE RACICOT are that he married Valéda Joannisse May 26, 1920, in St. Antoine (church) Timmins, Ontario, Canada.

Valéda Joannisse was the daughter of Antoine Prospère Joannis (notice different spelling) and of Cordélia Meunier. She was one of 6 children. Her parents were married July 8, 1901, in Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church, Maniwaki, Québec, Canada.

Hope this is of some use to you.

This is a long shot, I know. I am responding to a message posted in 2000. I am looking for decendants of Blanche Rose Racicot and William White. They would be my cousins that I played with as a child. I remember only two.....Emily and June..my mother used to call her Junebug. Blanche's father, Arthur Felix Racicot, was my maternal grandfather. I do not know much about his history, except that he was born in Quebec.

I think my husband is related to this family. I believe his ancestor was Jacques Racicot, who, according to the 1861 census, was married to D?lis Lalumiere. (apparently the first name was unreadable. In the Family Search website, I found a Dulisse Petit married to Jacques Racicot Jan 26, 1836 in Varennes. I think these are the same person (Petit Lalumiere). Does anybody have them in your family? Michel, I thought maybe your Ulysse was Dulisse. What do you think?

My husband's ancestor was Charles Roscoe, b. abt. 1852 in Canada, per 1880 Bay County, Michigan, census. In 1880 they had three children: Margaret, Boniface, and Aldorace. This makes me think they were from French Canada, and the name was original Racicot. Charles' wife's name was Margaret and she was born in Canada about 1855. Is anybody related to this family?
