My Great-Grandfather, Henry Francis Radcliff was born in New York (New York city I presume) around 1874. However I understand that his family was actually from Canada as he went to Montreal to be raised by relatives after his mother died and I also understand that the family had been in what is now Quebec for some time.

Can anyone help?

Oh, thank you so much, but I have had contact with his daughter since I posted here. I completely forgot to add a note that I had. A great loss for my research group, but an even greater loss for his family.

Cliff wrote an amazing research paper on SPRINGERs before DNA testing caught on, and my group's DNA study has been fortunate enough to prove most of his theories. I had wanted to thank him.

This sounds like the Charles who married Laner Raison and died in a coal mine cave-in which may have happened in Adams County, Ohio. He was in his 60's at the time.
Hi! I am trying to get information regarding the Indian Heritage of my family. My great grandmother was Louella Radcliff, daughter of William Vance Radcliff and Mary E Byerly. William's mother was Elizabeth Vance married to Charles Radcliff, adopted Indian Son of Richard. I would love any information. Many thanks! Bonnie

I see a number of George Radcliffe's mentioned on this board, but none match the little info I have. I'm looking for family (parents) of George (W?) or (W George?) Radcliffe of Sandwich South, Ontario. He died app 1872. Father possibly John?.
This George married Mary Ann Arnald from Maidstone, County of Essex, Ontario. They had two children... My great grandfather, Henry Radcliffe born 11 May 1863 and his sister Mrs. James (Harriett Radcliffe) Walters (born 1866 ?) from Alberta.
He must have widowed and had more children with another woman as my great grandfather Henry also had these half siblings... George W Radcliffe a prominant judge in Detroit, Michigan & Hugh(?).
I even have a picture of this George Radcliffe, url link posted below:

http://people.montana.com/~stormy/GeorgeRadcliffe.jpg

Can anyone please help me out?
My geneology search is totally stuck right there with this George!!
Thank you so much for posting. Most if not all those names you mentioned were names of George's siblings. Those are very possibly cousins or such.
I believe that I have found George's family. His father was William from The Isle of man. Now I'm trying to find out William's and spouses info from IOM to go back another generation. That's going to take a trip to the church to scour microfilm.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply. If you'd like to see what I have here is the index for the RadcliffeMorgan genealogy on ancestry.com:

http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=:2590...

Terri

George (Wm?) Radcliffe/Radcliff (Ratcliff), my great great grandfather, was born 1842 or 1843 in Sandwich South, Ontario. Married Mary Ann Arnald 10 June 1862 in Wayne County, Michigan. Died believed about 1872 but absolutely before 1881. Had children Henry born 11 May 1863 in Belle River, Maidstone, Ontario who married Agnes Mary Baart and a Harriett born Sept 1866 in Sandwich East. she married a James Walters.

Mary Ann Arnald Radcliffe died young & George had a 2nd wife... Mary Hurst and I believe they had at least one son George.

For more info on George see page:

http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:27298...

For access to the index of these Radcliffes go to:

http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=:2729...

see the facts on George as it tells about where he was in some Canadian censuses & other info.

George's parents Wm Radcliffe & Ann were Manx... from the Isle of Man. 1826/27 A wm 32, Ann 23 & Wm age 1 listed in ship manifest of the Barque Ocean that was Reported leaving Liverpool 20 May; arrived New York 13 Jul 1827 (ref #447); burthen 367 tons, John Gibbs, Master; used a handwritten (rather than printed) manifest (indicated as British Barque from Liverpool); where no occupation is indicated the manifest had 'none'. See:

http://www.isle-of-man.com/manxnotebook/famhist/genealgy/mfe...

They had one son with them Wm Jr at that time and believe that to be George's oldest brother. Family notes say George was the youngest of 13 children from Wm & Ann, but we can't seem to find any info giving us the other siblings names for sure. Anyone with that info please help or any info of Wm Sr & Ann on the Isle of Man and their parents & siblings there would be greatly appreciated.

Please email me at stormy@montana.com if you have any more for me or if I can help you more!

She was Susannah Blacker.
Her father was George Radcliff born in Pickaway Co., Ohio, on 12/21/11796, son of Benjamin Radcliff and Christianne Reed. Benjamin was successful in Kentucky for about 15 years and owned 13 slaves at one time but I don't know what they were used for...tobacco?
They had three children who were well cared for but the
couple doesn't seem to have married. They were mentioned
in Radcliff's will and again well taken care of. They were: Cynthia Blacker b. 1822, Felix G Radcliff b. 1825 anad Cassius M.C. Radcliff. The descendants of Cassius are still to be found in Pickaway County where the current and last sheriffs were and are Radcliffs. All seem to be buried in Muhlenburg Cemetery in Pickaway Co. -gary

David was the minister tho' little is known about him. I'm assuming he was Methodist Episcopal. His father, Stephen, was a farmer, perhaps a tobacco grower. He always had 400 acres at least and at any given time. Stephen died 1819 in Jackson, Ohio. He had lived in Bourbon Co., KY at the same time as his brother Benjamin who lived in Pickaway county.
You had to be a real go-getter in those days if you wanted food on the table. And these brothers were.

Albert Radcliff -born 1894- New York

I am looking for the Albert Radcliff whose father was
William Radcliff born 1852 in Montreal Canada. William lived most of his life in New York. His second wife's name was Mary E. Radcliff (maiden name unknown). William died October 10th 1905 and was buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. His wife died May 26th 1938 and was also buried at Woodlawn.
Albert was a product of the second marriage and was born in 1894. His wife was named Katherine who was born in 1891. Albert was the secretary of the Winsted Hosiery Company which we believe was in Connecticut. He may have lived in any of the New England states though. The couple had one daughter named Joan who was born August 29th 1921. We believe that Joan married and had a child but that is all we know. Our connection with Albert is through his father William's first marriage to Emma Roberts. Albert's half brother and sister were Henry Francis Radcliff and Lillian Radcliff.
