He had a residence in 1835 in Henry County, Indiana. They migrated to Indiana and entered one hundred acres of land in Henry County, immediately south of Middletown. Very little of the land was at that time cleared, most of being heavily timbered. Middletown was then composed of a few log houses, a postoffice, blacksmith shop and a general store. The Raders commenced housekeeping in a log cabin but soon built a two story house of hewed logs, and this in those early days was considered a rather pretentious dwelling. They both worked at clearing the farm and raising such produce as they could dispose of, the nearest markets being Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio.
After their land had been all cleared, forty acres of woodland were added to it and they continued to reside, leading quiet and uneventful but honorable and useful lives.

2.
I am also related to Henry Rader Sr through his son George
Aaron to Fredrick and Lucy Collett Rader to John Ingram to Pleasant Rader (my grandfather). I was recently at Eygpt Cem and took pics of all the Rader stones I could find which seems to be mostly the family of John William or H. that donated the land for the cem. Was hoping to find the grave of John's mother - Jane Walters - but did not. Would love to hear from you at auntjotaylor@yahoo.com Thanks

Hi I hope that you are still checking this board as I am too impatient to use snail mail. I am a descendant of Fredrick Rader also - Fredrick and Lucy Collett's son John Ingram 1877-1946 was my grandfather (Pleasant Rader) father. I would love to hear from you. I recently started chatting with a descendant of Martha Jane Rader (daughter of Fredrick and Lucy Collett Rader) and she says that she visits Hawk Rader, Jr - small world, right?! Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

I have no proof but her grand daughter Helen Rader Sparks told me that Mary was Cherokee and about driving Mary to see her "people"

Hi, Tom. I was wondering if you ever made your Rader connection back to the Revolutionary War. I assume you have the Militia muster list for Michael Rader. My interest is in my husband's paternal gr gr gr gr grandfather, Joseph Keyser (also Kiser, Kizer) who is on Rader's list. We have gathered all kinds of family info other people have on their lines but the only mention of Joseph in the Revolution was that list. His brothers Andrew and Charles (maybe John, I can't remember) are on it and there is all kinds of info on them. I have seen ancestry.com trees that show a daughter, Mary, marrying a Rayburn which is one of my husband's maternal names. I guess I am hoping to find someone in the Rader/Reader line with actual documentation that might include our Keyser/Kiser/Kizer family or the Rayburns/Reyburns.
Linda Kiser

The Samuel Rader I have knowledge of was a cabinet maker in Detroit. He had two sons, Phillip. a dentist in Detroit, and Isaac (Paul), a portrait artist and illustrator who worked in New York later in his life, and died in Florida about 20 years ago. Samuel and his wife, Minnie, also had a daughter, Bertha, who lived in Toledo, Ohio. All are dead, but grandchildren survive. Isaac Paul Rader was an artist of some note, best known for his pulp paperback book covers, painted in the 50s, 60s and 70s, which are prized by collectors. I have collected many of the books, and some original art, and am always looking for his work.

The only thing I know about him is he was living with John E. Rader ( son or grandson?)in 1900 in Lycoming co. Pennsylvania. John's wife was Anna. I cannot get the Rader's past John in Pennsylvania. He ended up in 1930 in Ontario, New York.
thanks,Alice

You might want to look at this for Melvin Rader, Randolph County, VA (now WV) parents and then a move to Webster County, WV. I would be interested if this is your Melvin Rader. I am willing to share other info.

Melvin Rader and Melvina Rader are listed in the Webster County, WV 1860 Census as members of the William Rader & Mary Rader family.

The 1850 Randolph County Census lists William & Mary Rader with two children, Melvina and Benjamin. These children appear in the 1860 Webster County Census with William and Mary Rader family so this is the same family.

The two children’s names and ages from 1850 census plus 10 years matches the childrens ages in the 1860 census. Minor discrepancies in children name spelling (Benjamin I. vs Benjamin T. and Melvina vs Malvina) but in the days of illitercy these were common. Bejamin T. Rader is correct and he later became a well known local minister. The ages of the parents probably depended on what month the census was taken.

Webster County
===============
1860 Sandrun P.O.
Webster Co., WV Census
From this web site
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wvwebste/1860webster.html
From the 1860 Webster County Census
================================
902 / 76-76 / William M.
You might want to try Webster County, WV (formerly VA). There is a Melvin Rader buried there. From my memories of what my dad told me, dad visited the grave in the 1960s. I think dad said his tombstone says "Shot by the Sheriff" or something like that. My memory may not be correct on this but I know the grave was in Webster County. William Rader (brother of Claudius Goff Rader, brother of Mary (Rader) White and son of Henry Rader and Susanna (Miller) Rader) served in the 20th VA Calvary in the Civil War. Baxter White served in the same unit. In the Randolph County, WV courthouse there is a Letter of Indenture made in 1850 by Henry Rader listing every item he owned. From family lore, Henry sold out and the family went west. The eldest son, William Rader, remained in WV. If the Melvin Rader you seek was born in 1851 he probably is the son of William Rader, not Henry Rader. From my ramblings, Willaim Rader moved from Randolph County to Webster County and later returned to Randolph County. Don't know if this helps or confuses. A cousin, Bryan Rader

It would be great if we could integrate both of our family trees. Our family tree is on geni.com . If we cann't combine them then perhaps we can get each other all the data. I am particularly interested in any information on Samuel Rader husband of Gussie Rader. I have all of the extended family tree of Samuel's second marriage to Flora Bass. Their children were George, Ruth and Lynne (birthnamed Henrietta). I can be emailed at artaxcpa@aol.com. We also live in NJ, my office is in Summit.

I read your post. It appears that Samuel Rader who was married to Gussie Rader was my Grandfather. Gussie and Samuel were either divorced or Gussie died prior to 1918. My father was born to Samuel Rader and Fagel Rader (nee Bass).

Samuel died in 1925 and Edward died in 1926 or so.

Samuel and Gussie also had two other daughters Ruth and Lynne.

I am the great grandson of Hiram Casteel Rader through Wilburn Frank Rader and Bettie Jane Rader. Are you the son of Jack Rader, Wilburn Rader's brother? I am trying to research my tree back through my mother's side and have gotten to George Rader and Sara Ellen Powell, parents of Hiram Casteel. If you're the son of Jack Rader, I may even have talked with you once on the phone back in the mid-90's. Wayne Evans

Looks like their maybe a connection. Gussie was my husbands grandmother Lena's sister, (his great aunt). I only knew of two children Edward b. 1903 & Frances b. 1907 could you give me information on the other two children. I recently traced Gussie's brother Samuel who was married to Yetta Friedman to present and I also have Lena's line to present. Do you have all the information on Gussie's side of the family? I have memoirs written by Lena which I had transcribed so I could post them or send to family. I also have two stories about Gussie's mother written by her grandson Albert which I posted on Ancestry.
