JUSTIN RAEL Oct. 31, 1924 - Jan. 8, 2012
With his beloved family around him, Justin Rael passed away at home after a lengthy illness. A long time resident of Alpine, CA., Justin was born in Albuquerque, NM., and resided in El Centro for many years.
As educator, Justin touched the lives of many students in California and New Mexico. Justin taught at Central Union High School from 1960 to 1985. An Honored Army officer, Justin served his country in WWII and the Korean conflict, earning a good conduct medal and many officer campaign ribbons. He married Irene Rose Garcia and in 64 years, their family grew from five children to five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Justin, who valued justice and honor, volunteered his time often in support of his church and many other organizations. He served as spokesman for the California Teachers Union and in retirement, continued to teach children and adults on a volunteer basis.
Justin is survived by his wife, Irene Rose; daughters, Christine Jones (Ron) and Martha Loera (Manuel); sons, Ron Rael (Ann), John Rael (Lupe) and Justin Paul Rael (Barbara); grandchildren, Matthew (Kristen), Darcy (Israel), Theresa (Jason), Christopher (Arcelia) and Vincent (Lupe); great- grandchildren, Naomi, Rafael, Jakob, Jezlynn and Adrael.
