I don't have much to offer in answer to your inquiry. However, I have roots from Gruol, Hohenzollern, Prussia and also from nearby Binsdorf. We may have some overlap somewhere.
When my 2nd great-grandparents (Rheinhard MÜNZER and Marianna PFISTER) emigrated here, they were close with a RAIBLE family (Marcus RAIBLE from Binsdorf and Rosina ZIRKEL from Erlaheim, and their children Daniel, Martin, Johannes, Maximilian, Genovieve, Joseph, Phillipine, Gottlieb). Maximilian, Martin, and Genovieve RAIBLE were baptismal sponsors for many of their children. I think these RAIBLEs may be related to me through a KNUPFER line, but I haven't done the research yet. I know these RAIBLEs lived in Lawrenceville in 1880, and possibly in Millvale after that.
These same 2nd great grandparents were married here in Pittsburgh in 1867, 9 days after arriving in NYC from Gruol. The witnesses to their marriage were Phillip BISSINGER and Bernhardina PFISTER (who was the bride's sister). Unfortunately, I don't know more about this Phillip BISSINGER. Two men with that name turn up on the 1880 census index, one in Buffalo and one in Berks county, PA. Either one could fit the bill, or neither.
