Hello Carmel,
My name is Marven McGrath. My father's name was Joseph Alexander, my grandfather's name was Alexander. I found him in the 1891 census under Lanteigne (his mother remarried a Lanteigne from Loggieville) along with his older brother Roderick and his younger brothers Allen and Robert, and a step brother (think his name was Jeremiah?).

We've always been told that Alexander's father and oldest brother drowned in the river on the Miramichi.

e information I have. I keep hitting road blocks. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Gilbert and Blanch had four sons: Joseph Felix, Walter A., Charles Franklin, and Robert G. Robert died at the age of 25 in some type of accident. Joseph and Walter married and had children; Charles married in 1960, but died in 1965 in Kansas City, MO.

Most of the name "Raiche" are of French origin; however, your Jean-Baptist is German.
From Vincent Raiche (aag293@agora.ulaval.ca) [w/o sources quoted] we have the following bio: "Jean-Baptiste was a German soldier who fought on the side of the British during the Americ an Reveloution. He was captured at Saratoga and brought to Boston as a prisoner. When he wa s released in 1783, his regiment had gone back to Germany and he was stuck in Quebec!
"He was the son of Mathias Reiche and Agathe Bourgrine of Elzach (near Freiburg-im-Breisgau ) in the German Black Forest..."

Bud; I am trying to locate Gilbert RAICHE family information. I know that Gilbert was born 12/14/1863 in Ste. Amie, Richelieu, Quebec and that his father was Felix and mother Marie or Maria and that he had a brother John (Jean). Gilbert died in 1950 in Davenport, IA and his obituary says he immigrated at age 12 and lived in Worcester, MA and Trenton, MO prior to Davenport. Does any of this ring any bells in your family tree? Most RAICHE families of Quebec descend from the surname PINARD and also many have also taken on dits such as BEAUCHEMIN. They can be found in the counties of Nicolet and Yamaska in Quebec and later spread out everywhere. I descend from three lines of PINARD...one being RAICHE dit BEAUCHEMIN. I have some information on the ancestors of Useb Raiche, but I will have to dig it out of my files. I believe I even have a copy of their marriage certificate. The ancestry of the Raiche family does go all the way back through Louis Pinard and his second wife,Marie Ursule Pepin. Louis was the first of that line to come to Canada in the 1600's. My Raiche ancestry also goes through Minnesota. I will go back through my files and see what I can come up with for you. My line came from Joseph Raiche and Susan Grant who came to Minnesota from Winnipeg, Manitoba in the 1830's. Haven't seen your Eva Margaret Raiche or her parents, Abraham and Margaret Goudrou in any of my research, but would like to hear more about them.
