I have a Rainbow appear in my family tree, well not exactly! The thing is in one Census she appears as a Rainbow and later she appears as a Birden, and on her son's Birth Certificate she listed her Maiden name as Freeman. On top of all of that during the 1900 Census there are two Ethels listed not to far from each other, one a freeman one a Rainbow, both born in 1887 (one in Aug. the other in Dec.) When you follow the list of people for the Rainbow one follows through until she becomes a Birden.
Here's a breakdown of it, in 1900 there was an Ethel Rainbow age, 12 living with a grandparent (Alvira J Miller) in Morgan Township, Ohio, but there's also another 1900 Census record that shows an Ethel Freeman age 12, living with her parents (William L & Laney E) in Colerain Township, OH.
In 1920 Census theres still an Ethel Rainbow age 32 with a son, Harold Rainbow age 2 and an Elizabeth Brent age 12(cousin). During this census her martial status is listed as Widow.
And in the 1930 Census There's an Ethel Birden age 43, In this census Hylan (my grandfather) appears so I know this Ethel is the Ethel I'm looking for but there's also a Harold age11, listed (same Harold from the 1920 Census?).
So I'm not sure which Ethel before the 1930 Census is the correct Ethel. Can they all be the same person (maybe they were counted twice?) I don't know.
