Rainier Family in Burlington Co., NJ
I am researching the Rainiers of Burlington Co NJ. I live in TX and have vitually no records at all and the internet is extremly short on information concerning this family. So now I am posting in hopes that another will plug in to help fill in the blanks. I have exausted the internet and my local library.
Samuel Rainier b:abt 1775 NJ d:1/3/1856 Burlington NJ. He married Esther ?.
Esther was b:abt 1783 NJ d:Jan 11 1856 Burlington NJ. For the first Samuel I am only sure of one son below, Samuel #2.
Samuel Rainier #2 b:abt 1795 I believe in NJ d:Feb 6 1870 Burlington Co NJ.
I also have his will. Married Ann Hayes (Hays) b:Feb 9 1809 NJ d: Oct 27
1893 Burlington Co, NJ. I also have her will. Their children: Lambert b:10/12/1830, Schuyler b:4/6/1834, Thomas b:June1836, Elizabeth b:abt 1839, Matilda b:1841, Harriet b:abt1847, Samuel S.(samuel #3), b:Aug 1849, Hayes b:1/25/1852 d:March 1852.
* Possible another son named Edward b:1825*
I did find several references to this family on the microfilm roll "History
of Burlington Co. NJ" but the references didn't hold much genealogical
value. It was mostly Civil Lists and Committees. I did find a few Rainier
marriages in the book "Burlington County Marriages" by Craig Stanley '97.
But the marriages I did find aren't of much use to me because I dont know
the men it speaks of except for a Samuel Rainear who married a Nancy Stiles
5/1/1809. But I am not familiar with Nancy. ????? I know these marriages are
more than likely blood related but I just don't know who they are.
Samuel S. Rainier, #4, was married 3 times. #1 Elizabeth Schuyler b:abt 1855
d:abt 1885 and had the following children: Ella b:abt 1874, Lambert b:Jul
1875, Emaline b: abt 1877, Anne b: June 1884. #2 Elizabeth Wright b:????
d:??/??/1898 and had 2 children: Hayes b:Feb 2 1892, Mary b:Jan 1894. #3Wife was Margaret Rodgers...no children with her, thank god. I couldn't handle more.
