Raley Clan
My husband is descended from the Raley's on his Mother's side - she was Esther Raley born in Mississippi, her Father was Benjamin Franklin Raley, born 30 Jan 1890 in Millview, Fl. His father was Nathaniel Green Raley, born between 1820/1824, we believe in Georgia (Houston Co). And that's where we hit a brick wall.
We are attempting to find out, for sure, who the father of Nathaniel Green was, and I thought perhaps someone out there may be able to help us. Some of the researchers on our side of the Raley's think it may have been a Jamsey David Raley, but there is no clear indication of this. Jamesy David's Father may have been Charles Raley born in South Carolina, married to Sarah Owen. They had a son JAMES Raley born May of 1790.
by the way : The DAR has a Charles RILEY listed in their rolls (actually two of them) as being RW soldiers that do match the two Charles Raley's as far as the dates go, and also their spouses(Sarah Owen & and Unknown Teemson) .. I am wondering if they have the spelling incorrect or if perhaps, somewhere down the line, the spelling got changed, as so often happened?
The roster of Rev. Soldiers in Georgia (Vol.1) lists a Charles Raley briefly in the notes on page 62 as a RW soldier who went to Milledgeville Ga in 1825 with several other RW soldiers to see the Marquis de LaFayette.
Also a Henry Raley in Warren County,Ga in 1845.
