Classification: Query
Surnames: RALEY, BRAMLETT, MCLENDON
I wanted to call attention to a public-member tree, "Needham McLendon," that contains what I believe is false information about the wife of Jamesy (Jimpsey) David Raley (JDR). This tree has the name of Elizabeth Bramlett as his wife. My basis for believing this information is false is that the tree owner has cited an 1850 Lancaster County, SC census record as her source. The census record has only initials for the three people in the record--one "J" and two "E's. While JDR'S wife's name was Elizabeth, and she was probably born in one of the Carolinas, she was NOT in South Carolina in 1850. There are TWO records in the 1850 Randolph County, GEORGIA census which most JDR researchers believe are records for JDR's wife and three of her children. (She was probably counted twice.) And, I KNOW that some members of this family (my gggf) were in Randolph County, GEORGIA by 1840. Furthermore, of the 10 trees the Neeedham McLendon tree owner has copied to her tree, at least 8 of which are owned by JDR descendants, NONE of them shows a marriage between JDR and Elizabeth Bramlett. A tree that is NOT owned by a JDR descendant includes an Elizabeth Bramlett, but shows no relationship to JDR.
I have posted comments on the Elizabeth Bramlett page of the Needham McLendon tree asking the tree owner to provide her source for the marriage between JDR and Elizabeth. I have also sent her an email asking for her source. So far, she has not responded to me.
I wanted to call everyone's attention to this tree and suggest that you NOT assume the information about Jamesy David's wife is correct. Hopefully, the owner of the tree will reveal her source or acknowledge her error.
